If I keep getting jobs like this I may have to change my name, Neate garden design or Neate landscaping????
1st looked at this one back in November, and with a budget to match requirements I got my design hat on. Design approved I was asked to hold off construction till the spring, nice to have a project to look forward too.
From design to completion all work on this project has been done by myself, ( except for removing the greenhouse ) and with tricky access all materials carried by hand or buckets.
I chose a thick recycled artificial grass for a soft main lawn with good drainage, and a dark sandstone patio to help tie in with the slate details and water feature. Both also act as a great contrast to the existing gravel which remains as the pathways.
With a covered pergola and trellis panels with climbers this garden will always have a secret place to sit and enjoy the garden from.
Really don't mind I over ran by a week waiting on some materials, it was a pleasure designing and building this garden and I'm sure it will be enjoyed for a long time to come.

My blue whale rockery 🐋☺️ sometimes plans change, and once I started construction of the 1st set of steps & flowerbed, it seemed obvious to me that the teardrop shaped flowerbed in my design would make a much better whale .

Wow that was a busy month that was, clients wanted a useable space with a contemporary feel and hopefully that's what I achieved.
Changing the levels and losing the slope makes this space feel so much bigger, and the new screen below the tall hedge helps hide the bare trunks & provides privacy too.

I don't think I've been lucky enough to work on a named garden before, but it's been a pleasure helping Selkirk Baptist church create their
' Garden of Hope '.
The pictures show stages 2 & 3 of the bit's I built, but the best bit about working on this project was watching the volunteers really bring the garden to life🌿🌷. Although we didn't manage to get enough stones to complete the rockery in time for the grand opening all 3 levels really did look fantastic 🙂
Remember if you're thinking about a summer house you'll need a good level base and if getting a flat pack to build yourself allow plenty time, this 12ft X 8ft one was like a 1000 piece 3D Jigsaw 🤔🤔🙂

Not sure which storm was the final straw for this old fence, but over 1200 screws later, the new 5ft tall boundary fence and 3ft tall dividing fence should stand the test of time.

A busy start to the new year, this is phase 1 complete of an ongoing project for a local church. Turning the existing raised bed into a bench at the back of the pergola means plenty of room for all to take cover.
Speaking to a few of the neighbours while constructing this deck it sounds like there has been many changes to the grounds over the years, even a road ran through once upon a time, and the church volunteers have done a great job cleaning the site. Enjoying helping bring the garden back to life and making a space for all to use and enjoy. Next new handrail, rockery and water feature.

This was my favourite project from last year.
I remember pruning all the shrubs on this banking for the previous owners, they where all 5-7ft tall & wide covering the entire bank.
The new owners came to Neate Maintenance wanting to make use of the space, with little spare time and 2 young children, low maintenance was key. They also asked for an area of lawn for the kids so this seemed like the best place to start. Once the lawn was in, and working closely with the clients we decided that a rockery was the best way to maintain the bank, with a path and steps running through for access. we also created a couple of extra raised beds for some salad crops/ fairy garden.

It was a long day but a pleasure helping Melrose Rugby Ltd cover this bank at the entrance to the Greenyards, after the old slabs finally had to come up. Can't thank Turf Direct Scotland enough.
I ordered the turf first thing, phoned an hour later to add a couple extra rolls. The turf was cut and ready for collection from Penicuik just after lunch, I collected around 4pm and with help had it down before dark( 9pm ish back then). Quality turf and excellent service, it's well bedded in and still looking good.

I recently received a txt from a client I have worked for before, asking me to clear a forgot corner of the front garden, and create a low maintenance garden space. The only other instructions I was given was to try and save her father's 🌹 along the 🏠. A busy couple of 🌞 days, I reused the slabs on site and also reused some of the existing cobblestone to help blend the old with the new.
Everyone's really happy with the finished look.😁
