What a week! 🔨🔥

I’ve been challenging myself this week with a project that’s definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone — a fully custom media wall, built from start to finish.

There’s a lot going on with this one! 👀

🎬 Acoustic panels to help reduce the echo in the room
💡 3 sunken shelves either side, all with integrated lighting
🔌 Hidden sockets behind the panels and within the shelving
🚪 A secret door cleverly built into the side
📺 All designed and built specifically around the customer’s room and requirements

This has been a challenging project, but I’m really proud of how it’s turned out.

There’s something pretty satisfying about starting with a blank wall and ending up with something completely bespoke that looks like it belongs there.

This week’s theme: Home Décor!

Wood panelling in bedrooms is a great way to modernise a room and give a plain, boring wall a whole new look.

Once painted, the panels really transform the space and add a bit of character without having to completely redecorate. 🎨👌

To celebrate 600 followers, here’s a lovely poem one of my lovely followers sent me, hope you enjoyed it as much as I did and take a minute to read it. Thank you to everyone 🙏

“Thoughts on Life as a Fixer”

You've a busy old life, both at work and at play
With so many tasks throughout any day
And time off is precious, with family or friend,
Without jobs in your home, to craft, sort or mend

That fence might need painting, or a gate to rehang
Then there's that cupboard door that's suddenly gone whang
New artwork to go up, or old shelving to come down
When you'd much rather be out having fun on the town!

There's a loo seat to fit with darn screws that refuse,
Flat-pack furniture to build, but instructions confuse,
Solar lights to install and brighten the night,
Adding handrails or ramps - saving stumble and fright

Those walls or ceilings are aching for paint,
Tap dripping sounds, infuriating even if faint,
Bath that could do with a silicone gift
Door handles that wobble, decking detritus to shift

So for this and more, here's a professional to see
Experienced, friendly, hard-working – that's me
Whatever needs doing – both indoors and out
I'll install or remove, build, paint or grout

Making your home safer and easier to use doesn’t always mean major building work.

Recently I’ve fitted a few new handrails to improve disabled access for a number of customers, giving them a bit more confidence and independence around their home. It’s always nice to complete a job that can make such a positive difference to someone’s day-to-day life.
