Dear former UCATT / currently Unite members and friends

You may be wondering what has happened to us.
We are still here; well, Adam Oakes and I (Barbara) are still based in the Newmarket office.
For now.

Things have changed and life goes on.
Ron McKay retired at the end of June; however, lucky for us, he is an Accredited Support Companion, attending meetings with members when an officer is unavailable.
Mark Jaina was seconded on to the National Construction Plan along with other former UCATT Construction Sector officers. Mark has been assigned to the A14 construction project.

We are now united with Unite and therefore this former UCATT page will be closing shortly. We suggest you come along with us to the Unite London & Eastern Region’s page for all the latest news and information.

We all wish him a fond farewell.

Hello people,
You may have wondered where we've been. We are still here; however, things have been and are continuing to change. As you know, we have merged with Unite and within the union, the Eastern Region has merged with the London Region. We are now the London & Eastern Region of Unite.
This page will be closed shortly.
We hope you will join us on the L&E Region page. Here is the link: http://www.facebook.com/unitelondon

Peter Wood is presented with his 50 year badge at the Eastern Region xmas lunch.
Is this the last 50 year award as UCATT?

Construction workers will have one powerful union voice on their side fighting for them from 1 January 2017, it was announced today (Wednesday 2 November) as members of UCATT voted by 85.5% to 14.5% to merge with Britain’s largest union, Unite.

02/11/2016

UCATT members vote YES to create construction superunion!

20/10/2016

vote yes for a stronger union! If we the members don't use our vote and ucatt is forced to limp on crippled by the deficit. the union will have to make deep cuts in officers and staff. Many of the regions would likley disappear.

As a small union we are on course to loose £1.2 million pound this year. Regions would be merged and with less officers we would struggle to continue to provide a service to members.
We would be weaker and as the membership declined it would be necessary to make more redundancies.
I believe ucatt would disappear or become so infective we would not be a force in the industry.
A vote yes for merger would see a financialy secure union with real industrial and political muscle. The one the employers are most fearful off. It means one union for every one accross the industry, no matter what sector you work in.
It would ensure we are able to give members the best representation possible and give us the ability to tackle and improve the terms and conditions of our members.
A vote yes will create a strong and vibrant and when necessary meaner union making a real difference for you and your workmates.
Vote yes for a union fit for the issues we face in the 21st century.
