Project Update.

It was great to get along and see one of our customers energy generators working well today.

In this instance they had decided to add a small PICO hydro turbine to their house, to make use of a well they have on their property. The client has spent the last few decades getting their house to be as energy efficient as possible meaning that this turbine when running at full capacity will cover nearly 30% of the entire homes energy usage.

This tied in with already existing solar and battery capacity allows the home to run almost completely off the grid.

Although this solution isn't viable for every home its great to see alternative ways of making use of the energy thats all around us.

At Sunny Patch we are all about efficiency. What is the most efficient (and usually most cost effective) way to decarbonise homes and save people energy. We believe that electrification of all appliances is the way forward. There has been a lot of talk recently about green hydrogen and hydrogen being used to heat homes. On the surface this seems like an excellent idea. Keep existing infrastructure (gas lines) but get rid of CO2 (stop burning methane) However when you dive into the numbers a little deeper you can see that they dont quite add up. Having worked at home and abroad in solar, batteries and heat pumps he has an excellent knowlege of all things renewable. Outside of Sunny Patch Tom enjoys playing music and gardening.
