I restored this beautiful table and chairs set that had serious cracks and moisture damage. Lots of patience required for this one, and the results speak for themselves.

I really enjoyed working on these solid, curvy mid-century lounge chairs, and with this fantastic monochrome fabric from Clarke & Clarke too.

The old fabric was faded and damaged from years of UV rays. My client chose the black and white weave, and specifically asked me to use the reverse of the fabric as the outer (yes, you can do this if you prefer!).

I simplified the previous design and created a slip for the back of each chair, which I hand sewed around the edges. This job was all about the details - that's one thing I guarantee to deliver 😁

This Lloyd Loom style ottoman and chair arrived as individuals and went home as a matching pair!

In the family for years, both had been in storage and in need of the full Odd Thing treatment. My returning client wanted a green colour scheme and chose a stunning art deco printed velvet for the upholstery. They also asked me to come up with a funky and unique way of adding detail to the legs to transform them into a set.

Both were stripped back, cleaned and painted in Bayberry Fusion Mineral Paint UK, which toned well with the fabric. I cut a new wooden top for the ottoman and reupholstered it, adding piping detail to finish off the edges. I was able to reuse the original chain and handle.

For the chair, I repaired the strapping on the springs and tightened them up to create a more secure base for the new seat pad. I also repaired one of the legs.

Drawing inspiration from triangles on the fabric, I hand painted and gilded the geometric patterns on the legs and handles of the ottoman, tying them together as a cute little pair with striking details.
