Things are progressing well with our project in Stoke Holy Cross, and we're on track to appoint a contractor by the end of this month.
We originally went out to five contractors, all of whom were carefully selected through a thorough pre-qualification process. We assessed everything from previous project experience and quality of work to financial stability, references, and availability to take on the scheme.
That process has now narrowed the field down to three strong contenders.
At this stage, the conversation shifts. Once you've established that all shortlisted contractors are capable of delivering the project to the required standard, the focus naturally turns to value and cost.
We've recently issued a schedule of queries and clarifications that will require amendments to the original submissions, allowing us to ensure we're comparing like-for-like proposals. From here, it becomes a cost-driven exercise, with the aim of securing the best overall outcome for our client.
Selecting the right contractor is about much more than simply choosing the lowest number, but having a robust process from the beginning certainly makes the final decision easier.
Looking forward to reaching the finish line on this stage of the project.
