“Can you wrap it?”

Technically, sometimes yes.

Should you wrap it? That’s a different question. 😂

Architectural vinyl is incredibly versatile, but the condition of the surface underneath matters.

Before recommending wrapping something, I’m looking at things like:

✅ Is the surface smooth and stable?
✅ Is anything peeling or delaminating?
✅ Has moisture damaged it?
✅ Are the edges suitable for wrapping?
✅ Will the existing coating give the vinyl a reliable surface to bond to?

Wrapping can completely transform kitchens, worktops, furniture and interior surfaces — but it isn’t magic that fixes whatever is underneath it.

Occasionally the best advice I can give someone is not to wrap something.

I’d much rather say that upfront than take somebody’s money for something I don’t believe will last.

Privacy at a window doesn’t necessarily mean shutting the curtains all day.

This is something I get asked about quite a lot — particularly with downstairs windows, bathrooms, doors and properties that are overlooked.

There are different types of privacy film depending on what you’re actually trying to achieve.

For example:

❄️ Frosted film — excellent for permanent privacy while still allowing plenty of light through.

🪞 Reflective film — can provide daytime privacy while still allowing you to see out, although it relies on the light being brighter outside than inside.

👀 Decorative films — useful when you want to obscure the view without completely frosting the glass.

The important bit is choosing the film for the problem rather than simply choosing whichever one looks nicest on a sample.

Because “I need privacy” can actually mean several very different things.

Good luck to everyone getting their GCSE results today. 🤞

Results day feels absolutely massive when you’re 16.

I remember getting mine and, to put it politely, they were a bit of a car crash. 😂

I did better in some than others, but I certainly didn’t get the set of results I’d been told I needed. At the time, it genuinely felt like I’d messed up my chances in life before I’d even really started.

We were given a big “Record of Achievement” folder to keep all our certificates in and told to look after it because employers would want to see it.

I’m 40 now.

Not a single employer has ever asked to see it. 😂

I was also expected at 16 to know what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

At 40, I don’t think life really works like that.

I’ve had several completely different careers over the years, not because I couldn’t decide what I wanted to do, but because what I wanted from work changed as I got older.

I’ve been a Reporting Analyst, Software Developer, Prison Officer, Tram Driver and now I run my own business.

Each one suited me and my life at the time.

None of them were part of some grand career plan I had when I was 16.

We were also told that if we didn’t get C grades or above, getting a decent job would be difficult.

That certainly made disappointing results feel like a much bigger deal than they really were.

So if you’re opening that envelope today and you’ve smashed it — congratulations. Be proud of yourself. 👏

And if you haven’t got the results you hoped for, that’s okay too.

Your results might influence what your next step looks like, but they do not decide the rest of your life.

You do not need to have everything figured out at 16.

Life changes. You change. Your priorities change.

Today’s results do not define your ability to succeed in life. ❤️

A kitchen doesn’t have to be falling apart before you start wanting a change.

Sometimes the cupboards are solid, the layout works and everything functions exactly as it should…

You’re just completely fed up with looking at it. 😂

That’s where architectural wrapping can make a lot of sense.

The existing doors and surfaces can be professionally wrapped in a completely different finish without ripping out a perfectly usable kitchen.

This one went from green to black — same kitchen, completely different feel.

Wrapping won’t fix damaged or failing units, and it isn’t suitable for every surface.

But when the kitchen itself is sound and the problem is simply how it looks, replacement isn’t always the only option.
