A new fire damper was installed within the fire-rated wall to maintain compartmentation.
The wall was carefully opened to form the required aperture, and a steel support frame was installed to provide structural stability and correct mounting tolerance. The fire damper was fitted within the framed opening in accordance with manufacturer guidance and industry best practice.
Tested fire-rated batt and approved fire-stopping materials were installed on both faces of the wall around the damper sleeve to reinstate the fire compartment line and achieve the required fire resistance.
Associated ductwork was secured on the downstream side with independent supports to ensure no load is transferred to the damper casing.
Installation complete — damper is independently supported, correctly fire-stopped, and the compartment integrity has been reinstated.
