💸Why is roof cleaning so expensive?💸

We aren't oblivious, we know it can seem like that roof clean quote is really expensive. So, we wanted to explain why roof cleans cost as much as they do.

Roof cleans are high (literally) risk and labour intensive. Business insurance and legality aside, the danger of working up so high, and doing such intensive work, needs to be properly valued. When the customer has a vision and we get to be the ones to bring it to life! 😁😍

Slightly different job this week, but couldn't have worked with a more lovely couple. They wanted to reduce the amount of grass in their garden to manage the upkeep and redo their shed area.

We added a new sandstone border and backfilled the area with gravel. For the shed area, we dismantled the old one, excavated the whole area and then filled the area with a concrete base for the new shed.

We've been quiet on here for the last couple weeks working hard on some really great jobs...

One thing we don't like at H&N Exterior Solutions is seeing people taken advantage of.

A customer contacted us after someone knocked on her door three times, telling her all the gutters at the front of her house needed replacing.

When we arrived, that simply wasn't the case. Just a disconnected downpipe and a small crack in one section. Reconnected it there and then, free of charge. When we're back for her annual gutter clean, we'll quote to replace just that section, not the whole front of the house.

This sort of thing gives our industry a bad name. There are honest tradespeople out there who'll tell you what actually needs doing, even if it's a smaller job than you were told.

If someone knocks at your door telling you something needs replacing, get a second opinion. It could save you hundreds.

Heavy black spot removal on this one. These stubborn spots took several treatments to fully break down, but the results were well worth the effort. The patio is now looking clean, fresh, and back to how it should be.

Roof scrape 🎥
These slate tiles are past the point where pressure washing is an option, too much wear and it'd do more harm than good. So we scraped off the moss and lichen by hand, then treated with biocide to kill it off at the root.

This is why it matters who you get in. The wrong method on tiles like these can shorten their life or crack them completely.
We assess every roof before touching it, right method for the right surface.

Sometimes a gutter clean turns into a bit more than expected 👀
This one had been leaking for a while — on inspection the gutter had shifted in a really awkward corner. Not the easiest spot to get to but we've got the ladders and the knowledge to get into the tight spots safely.
Repaired , gutters fully cleared out and ready to do their job. Roll on the rain 😄☔
