Part 3 of the big garden clear up! 🌾

All the flowers in this area have gone to seed so its time to blitz to bits!!

It always makes me smile seeing damsel and dragonflies darting about over head so I made sure to leave some areas standing to provide a perch for hunting, and for other creatures to escape to too.

Its not about making it "perfect" or completely eradicating every clump of sedge and brambles, but thoughtfully curating the garden for both humans and the wild to enjoy πŸŒ±πŸ¦‹πŸ¦—πŸŒΈ

Part 2 of the big garden clear up!

As this area is close to a large pond, I took extra care not to disturb potential nesting birds or resting amphibians in the vegetation.
Making sure to leave enough of an area in flower and untouched for any animals or invertebrates to retreat to.

Part of a big garden clear up was cutting down an area that had become over grown with sedge, bracken and creeping thistle (Cirsium arvense). In amongst the brush hides a Ginko tree, buddleja, Hazel and lilac all waiting to be free.

What's more satisfying than a sharp set of shears and a freshy trimmed shrub?

MOVE OVER EX-BEE-DIA, I've got my own BEE & BEE 🐝

Making a bee hotel doesn't have to be grand, or expensive. Hollow cuttings make fantastic refuge for bees and bugs.
Here a took some cuttings from a Leycesteria formosa (Himalayan honeysuckle) and wrapped them together with garden twine.

Today started a little earlier than usual to try and get ahead of this heat wave, but it was already 26Β°C by 9:30am 🫠 safe to say I stayed well hydrated thanks to my lovely client πŸ₯°
