Camelot creates beautiful, hand made open fires that also offer high performance like a stove. Our fires look very traditional but feature our Thermovent heat exchange design to increase performance to just over 50% net efficiency. We offer a no smoke guarantee and specialise in Inglenooks and thatched properties. We also make canopies.

Welcoming our newest member of the Camelot team - Rob! Rob has many years of panel work experience in vehicle restoration and fabrication before that so has all the core skills we need and more. Rob and I had a bit of a play yesterday with our latest toy - the plasma cutter when Jerry was kind enough to share his knowledge of using them. Rob doesnt wear the goggles all the time 🤣.

We posted a pic of this 4 sided open fire canopy marked out on flat sheet the other day - now here it is! Hand made by me 😊.

Hard to see but amongst the scribbles and scribe lines on this sheet are 2 fronts and 1 side (other from another sheet) for a 4 soded canopy. Tomorrow we cut!

Its been a while. After two and a half years with us Max has decided to move on to spend his time on house rennovations, steam engine engineering and maybe trips abroad. Have fun Max! I've enjoyed stepping in on the rennovation of this cast iron bread oven (yes an unusual project for a previous client) and now starting templating a small cottage canopy. Really rewarding to be creating stuff in the workshop again. I'm reminded why I started doing this 😊!

Max is midway through this bespoke 1.8m wide steel open fire canopy with banding. You can see the cutouts he's working to at the back of the canopy to match the large stone fire surround. In the background is the test corner piece made to double check his planned work matches the jig we made dureing our site visit a few weeks ago. This is the reference for this canopy. Great work.

Great trip out with Max yesterday. We needed a really accurate reference of the bespoke stone fireplace to be able to make a bespoke canopy for the opem fire. We dont normally do this but the diagonals and the difference between planned and actual installed dimension meant we had to add this step into our process. Max is now taking the results to creat a CAD deawing of the canopy to send to the client for feedback or approval. Then we strike metal!
