Happy New Year

We have just completed a large pruning job in Woodhill park, Portishead.

There are a couple of piles of decent sycamore firewood in desperate need of cutting up and storing for next winter.

Free to a good home, collect at your leisure.

Good afternoon good people of Portishead and North Somerset.

I am looking for a plot of land in the Portishead area to lease.
I would use this small plot to store and process logs and brash from our day to day tree and hedge work.
For clarity, all of the stars on the map are current customers of ours 😊

If you think you can help, please get intouch to talk about it in detail.

Good afternoon.
I have an important announcement for anybody wanting to contact me through bing.

A man named Gary has somehow changed the phone number on my bing listing to his own !

I have worked VERY hard to build an excellent reputation and this parasite is threatening that.

I will find a way to deal with him, but in the meantime.

It is only myself and my brother Joe who would ever contact you, and we would never cold call.

This has really shaken me and I want to say to everybody who may be looking to get a tradesman in to do something to always ask for credentials and not take it for granted that you are talking to who you think you are talking to.

I would not have known about this, had a potential customer not been uncomfortable when this Gary, arrived and quoted for their work.

In their words, they didn't like him, felt uncomfortable with his manner, and felt something was wrong.
They then Google searched me and rang my actual number to make me aware.

I am very grateful to them.

Thankyou for reading,
Jamie The Good Tree Fella

Let's talk about Ash trees.

By now I'm sure you are all aware of Ash Die Back, but what does it mean for you ?

Do you have Ash trees on your property ?
or in neighbouring land that pose a threat to your property ?

Trees affected by Chalara (the airborne fungus that causes ash dieback) Have a life span of as little as 5 years, dependant on size and age.
And can also become structurally weak before then, posing a threat to their immediate surroundings, but also becoming very hazardous to climb and work on.
The disease is terminal to all ash trees that contract it and the only real solution, when an affected tree is within falling distance of any road, footpath, public access site or anything else which you hold dear, is to dismantle it before it becomes a hazard.

It is a good idea to get these trees checked out and get a plan for dealing with them as soon as you can.

It can be a pretty straight forward procedure, to dismantle a tree in the early stages of the disease, but if left too long, often the simple options are no longer viable, and you will need the use of machinery to remove them.
Whether this is a mobile platform, crane or tree harvester, the cost of removal increases substantially.

If you have any concerns about trees in your garden or surrounding area, which you believe may be affected and becoming hazardous, we would be very happy to come and diagnose, estimate life span and if necessary make a plan and quote for any essential works.

And in some cases, put your mind at rest.

"no Madame, you are quite safe here, that is a walnut" 😄

Windy !

If you have any concerns about your larger trees over this stormy period, give us a call.

We can help/advise/put your mind at rest.
Most likely your trees are perfectly stable and healthy. They have weathered alot of wind this year, thus proving there strength.

But if they are not, make us your go to, to sort out the problem.

Due to a postponement, we have space to fit in new custom over the next few weeks.

This time of year is very busy with customers venturing out into their gardens after what has been a particularly dismal winter.
And discovering or reminding themselves of, issues they may have with their trees and hedges.

So before I call existing customers to rearrange upcoming works and bring them forward, I'd like to offer consultancies early next week with a view to filling the next few weeks with new works.

We provide a multitude of services, including; •Hedge trimming, topping and removing

•Crown management of small and large trees

•Safe controlled dismantling

•Woodland and park management

You may contact me here by commenting, or directly on 07703544608 or email [email protected]

I look forward to hearing from you,
Regards, Jamie Cox

Surrey council now following Wiltshire and Gloucestershire councils in giving out guidlines for land owners with ash trees within falling distance of highways and public land.

Do you have Ash Trees on your land?

Take a look at the "Guide to Ash Dieback" from LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming)

🌳 Support landowners in the management of their ash trees and the risks associated with this disease.

🌳 Ensure that healthy ash trees remain as a precious and much-loved feature of our landscapes.

Is anyone in the Portishead area looking for Woodchip ?
I have a couple of jobs locally over the next few weeks and I'm looking for somewhere convenient to back up and tip a trailer load.

Wood chip can be used for a number of purposes. Such as creating rustic footpaths, lining indoor paddocks, mulching boarders and beds over membranes, to keep weeds down around woody plants and shrubs.

Small tree pruning and reductions, allowing more light into the garden by carefully reshaping, while maintaining their character and health.
Being from the Cotswolds, I am continually amazed by the species that can thrive down here at near sea level. Not having to contend with much in the way of frosts like we see "up north" makes this area a bit of an oasis.
This is the first almond I have ever climbed and reduced, and the olive that Joe pruned with an A frame and poles is a very happy specimen with it's roots in the ground.
