A weekend spend digging out the base of the lady garden HQ, hardcore down next.
First coat of paint going on the fences too seen as I won't really be able to get down there once the she shed is up. Exciting! Thanks to my helpers this weekend David Stevens & Healey Jenny I hope your not too sore tomorrow 🤣

Nasturtiums for daaaaaaaaaaays

What a belter cover plant. Over the past few years in the gardens I work in I'm finding this is taking longer an longer to grow each year, likely due time the weather. It's working out well tho as it seems to be taking up the space as everything else is dying back so its been great to plant in little pockets in places I know will be sparse come autumn.
It's also amazing as a sacrificial plant for the cabbage butterfly. You know that little white one that lays its eggs on your plants and the caterpillars dessimate? This is their fave so if you've got this in your garden then they will lay on there an leave other plants alone. Nasturtiums are so abundant that it can take the hit from the caterpillars and still throw out shows like this. Oh and their edible for us too. Seeds, flowers and foliage. The flowers look boss on a posh salad and the seeds taste like peppercorns. Win win.
