π§ Not just your average boiler change this past week but definitely one of the most interesting jobs recently. To remove four Worcester Bosch gb162 boilers which had served their time and needing replacing. These boilers served for heating a swimming pool and gym area, also providing hot water. π§
π¦ After careful consideration and communication with the onsite maintenance staff a date was set for work to commence in the half term for minimal disruption. One of the most challenging obstacle to overcome was keeping the pool temperature up while the existing boilers could be decommissioned and removed. We were able to minimise downtime by removing all but one boiler to provide heat. While the new cascade system and boilers could be partly assembled and moved into place as quick as possible. Resulting in the overall pool temperature only dropping from 29 to 26! π¦
π₯ x4 new Ideal evo max 100kw boilers were chosen. A plate heat exchanger was used for hydraulic separation and protection keeping the older pipework separate from the new boilers heat exchangers. This reduces the risk of blockages and restrictions in the future from poor water quality. π₯
π© All accosiated flow and return pipework including a new gas supply was installed, strength tested, purged, tightness tested and commissioned to the highest standard. Using 54mm press fittings to complete the process with no βhot worksβ allowed on site π©
π¨ A new Flue 250mm system was installed as the old terminal had become brittle and broke causing condensation to leak back into the plant room. π¨
β‘οΈ All that was left was to hand over to the electricians to wire up the safety devices and boilers to the Trend BMS for all the monitoring and controlling to optimise the new boilers so they could efficiently and cost effectively for the client. β‘οΈ
So if you have a challenging project youβd like us to take a look atβ¦
