Ever seen green goo inside a socket or switch?
It’s something we come across occasionally when working on electrics. That green residue is copper corrosion, usually caused by moisture getting into the wiring or terminals over time.
The problem is it can lead to:
Poor connections
Overheating
In some cases, a fire risk
Most people would never know it’s there unless the socket or switch is taken off, but when we find it, it normally means the fitting – and sometimes the wiring behind it – needs sorting out.
If you ever spot green residue inside a socket or switch, don’t ignore it.

A large sub board was installed ready to upgrade from the original consumer unit in the near future.

Also installed were:

• x4 double white sockets

• x1 spur for electric heater

• x1 light switch

• x1 light customer choice
