Let’s ensure we keep our refuse collectors, their vehicles and that of other road users safe and dispose of these pressurised canisters properly.

Pressurised canister issues ⛽

A reminder to residents and businesses that pressurised canisters such as nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and helium should never go in your council bins. These have the potential to explode in our collection vehicles or our waste facilities - which can cause injuries and major damage.

As seen in the photograph these are the amount of canisters retrieved by our crews in one month alone.

The recycling lane at Hunters Lane accepts helium canisters ♻️ for all other types please refer to:

Some tips from your Rugby bin collection crews to help you and your neighbours, and keep your area clean and safe.

🗂️ Separate waste, all recycling should be clean, dry and loose (not in a bag) - Your bin will not be collected, if you're not sure check out:

https://www.rugby.gov.uk/what-goes-in-which-bin-

🚮 Any waste left by the side of bins will not be collected - For large items, you can take them to the Recycling Centre (Hunters Lane) or book a bulky waste collection here:

https://www.rugby.gov.uk/w/bulky-waste-collection-service

🪫 No batteries in Council bins - these can and do cause fires, this includes vapes and electronic items with batteries (like electric toothbrushes). These can also be recycled at Hunters Lane.

🏡 Please put bins out before 7:30am and return them on the same day - Bins must not be left on the pavement or road except on bin days.

You can report missed bins or ask for additional or replacement bins through our website - https://www.rugby.gov.uk/recycling
