It’s raining, it’s pouring ⛈️

Despite the heavy downpour with thunder and lightning last week, it didn't stop our lads from getting out there and getting the job done, strimming down and clearing up this industrial unit in Sheffield.

During the summer months, we visit weekly to formally stripe the lawns and carry out some shrub pruning and topiary ☀️

Professional w**d control 🌱

This before and after of a renovation on a site in Leeds that had not been maintained previously is a great example of what a difference removing overgrown w**ds can make.

The rear fire escape was unrecognisable among the vast amounts of w**ds, self-seeded saplings and Buddleia, which all had to be cut out. Once the access path was restored and the area cleared, we finished with a chemical treatment to kill the remaining roots and deter any regrowth.

Despite the setbacks from the prolonged hot, dry summer we’ve been having, our teams have remained busy across the county and beyond, keeping public green spaces at their best for locals to enjoy.

We’ve been taking care of the grounds maintenance for this large park on the outskirts of Skipton, North Yorkshire, for many years now, providing residents of the new-build housing estate nearby with access to a play area and dog walking paths throughout the park.

We were recently brought in to carry out a comprehensive landscape renovation at a large student accommodation complex in Bradford, managed by Homes for Students 🏘️

The site provides accommodation for more than 1,000 students, making it essential that the grounds remain attractive, safe and easy to maintain throughout the year.

We carried out a full soft landscape renovation across the site, carefully removing tired and overgrown planting before introducing a fresh, contemporary planting design 🌿

These images are an exceptional example of a wildflower area that we look after, abundant with poppies.

They also show an excellent native wildflower border as an alternative to just the traditional wooden knee rail fencing - not only does it add striking colours, but it’s great for pollinators and insects alike, too.

The amount of bees all over these flowers really was a sight to behold!

We’ve maintained the green spaces on this large housing estate in Sheffield for many years now.

Used by residents for dog walking and exercising on the perimeter of the development, it’s so important to keep these areas fit for purpose to keep both local residents and their four-legged friends happy 🐕

What do we do for this site?
- Grounds maintenance
- Formal cutting and pruning
- Perimeter cutting, including cutting along the paths which border wildflower banks
- Annual cut downs of wildflower areas

These pictures were taken back in May, so you’ll have to use your imagination when it comes to how the wildflowers have bloomed since. Nonetheless, the site is a great development of biodiversity close to the city.

Around 18 months ago, we completed an exciting landscaping scheme at the West Bar development in Sheffield city centre.

As the project enters its second year of post-installation maintenance, the results are becoming increasingly evident, with the wildflower areas now showing excellent germination and establishment 🌼

We took these pictures back in April, and we're happy to be able to demonstrate that - even within a busy city centre environment - biodiverse planting schemes can thrive.

A popular tourist area all year round, it consists of:
⛲ An attenuation pond with banked areas
🪴 Recently planted beds throughout the car park area and shop frontages
🌿 A mix of ornamental grasses and native planting

Here’s one of our operatives doing just that - strimming the borders of a wildflower area to keep it from encroaching onto the public walkway, but still letting it grow free where it doesn't pose any danger. It's a balancing act, but our team knows what they're doing.
