⚡️ Exciting News! ⚡️
We’re proud to announce that AXO (Electrical Contractors) are now official sponsors of RG4 FC! 🙌⚽
At AXO, we believe in powering our local community both on and off the pitch. Supporting grassroots football is a fantastic way to give back, and we’re thrilled to see the team representing our name this season.
We wish RG4 FC the very best of luck – here’s to a successful season ahead! 💪⚡️⚽
Here is a little insight to the club, through the words of the now chairman.
“Back in 2022 with the dream of a football club that made football accessible to everyone regardless of financial or SEN restrictions. If we had space and the child wanted to play then they were welcome.”
“Our first session had just 5 children attend. Within 6 weeks we had a full team and started playing in the Berkshire youth development league. Fast forward just 3 years and we have 2 children’s teams, The under 11 Warriors, under 13 Samurai and a six a side team the RG4 Underdogs. This means we are now working with approximately 50 children and 35 men.”
“To keep the club running we were and still are reliant on volunteers and sponsors/donations. We have an amazing team of around 10 volunteers who give up a lot of time to coach and manage the teams during the week and also weekend matches as well as parents who help, whether that be helping setup and clear up, playing taxi to get players to games or running the line on match day. Not forgetting all the admin time put in registering players, sorting teams and liaising with the FA about a million different things!”
“As well as making football accessible to all children we also wanted to help men’s mental health. This was the basis of the RG4 Underdogs, to give men a chance to come play football in a positive environment, make new friends and get support from other players. just having somewhere to go and play (even as an adult) can massively help your mind set.”
“As a club this has been recognised and very honoured to receive three awards this season. We were nominated for the sports club of the year at the Reading sports awards, however to our surprise in December we won the Katie Henderson memorial trophy for commitment to Sport. We were also honoured by the Berks and Bucks Football association with the respect award for inclusivity in 2024/2025 in February. Then in June we were honoured to win the Berks and Bucks grassroots club of the year. We also had 2 nominations at the pride of reading . A club nomination and a personal nomination for myself for the underdogs work.”
“Future plans are to start our youngest ever team, as well as a girls/ladies team AND a disability team”
