🌿 What awful weather this week. But somehow I’ve managed to keep a few gardens ticking over between weather fronts. Today I’ve been doing general clearing, and also moving a few clumps of snowdrops from established colonies. I’ve moved them to an empty flower bed so my client can see them from their living room. As the years pass these will spread and create a bigger show. Minimal effort and zero cost! 🌿

🌿 So what does this gardener do in January? Well, my green fingers pick up a paint brush! Over the past few days I’ve been redecorating a bedroom for a client. On Monday this room had cold white walls with dull beige wardrobes. Overall a soulless place with no personality. But on Wednesday the room is looking far more modern and cheerful. The sea beeeze blue is calming and the chalk white wardrobes look fresh and clean. Add in crisp white skirting boards and radiator and the transformation is complete. A new lease of life without the expense and upheaval of a full refurb. I hope your new space brings you peace and happiness!

It’s been rather cold on a morning this week, but sunny enough to be keeping my client gardens in the best order. Here a flower bed has been trimmed back, shaped, weeded, and the soil dug over. This essential early maintenance ensures this garden will remain nice and neat well into spring as the bulbs are coming up 🌿

I love a Japanese garden, and this example is stunning. This is the Kyoto garden, located in Holland Park. Opened in 1991, it was donated by the city of Kyoto as a symbol of the enduring friendship between Japan and the UK. Autumn is the best time to visit of course, when the trees are turning incredible shades of red, orange and yellow. It’s such a peaceful area of London that makes you slow down and take time to admire the design and colours, plus the rich variety of wildlife 🌿

🌿 It’s so good to have the sun back! So this week is about catching up with last weeks missed appointments. This garden in Harrogate looks amazing in the autumn sun. Today’s jobs included mowing the lawns, dead heading, planting spring bulbs and removing some weeds. And now it looks great! 🌿
