Milestones like this are hugely important on all our projects. Not only for us at Graline but for our clients.

The next big step was one of our favourites… the roof structure. Over the coming days, the trussed roof is to be installed and you’ll really start to see this bungalow transformed into its new home.

Every stage is carefully planned and built with quality in mind, because getting the structure right is what everything else depends on.

Taking Shape | Bournville

This one is really starting to take shape.

What began with major demolition has now moved firmly into the construction phase — new foundations and structural work, brickwork going up, first-floor structure formed and the new roof taking shape.

Projects like this are about far more than adding a bit of extra space. It’s about taking an existing property and completely rethinking how it works for the family who lives there.

There’s still plenty to come at Bournville, and we’ll be sharing the transformation right through to completion.

“What’s your budget?”

It’s one of the first questions clients can feel uncomfortable answering ,but it’s also one of the most important conversations we can have.

Sharing your budget doesn’t mean we intend to spend all of it.

It helps us understand what you want to achieve, advise what’s realistic, prioritise where your money is best invested and identify potential compromises before they become expensive ones.

There’s little value in developing a £150,000 project when the client is expecting to invest £80,000.

The earlier we align vision, budget and specification, the better the project can be planned from day one.

What an absolutely fantastic day at the Big Construction Diversity Challenge 2026! 🏆

I had the pleasure of taking part as part of the Federation of Master Builders' 'Bricks and Giggles' team, and what a day it was. From start to finish there was plenty of laughter, teamwork, friendly competition, and more than a few moments where we had to dig deep in the heat!

The challenges tested everything from communication and problem solving to teamwork and resilience, and it was great to see so many people from across the construction industry coming together and supporting one another.

Despite the scorching weather, everyone gave it their all, and we were delighted to come away as the Top Team Points Winners!

A huge thank you to my fellow teammates. It was such a privilege to be part of the team and spend the day alongside such a fantastic group of people.

Most importantly, the event raised vital funds for CRASH, the construction industry's charity supporting homelessness charities and hospices across the UK. Learning more about the incredible work they do made the day even more meaningful.

A huge thank you to Nimble Media for organising such a brilliant event. It was exceptionally well run, full of energy, and a fantastic example of how diversity, inclusion, and collaboration can bring people together.

If your company is looking for a genuinely fun and engaging team building event that also supports an amazing cause, I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Looking forward to joining the Big Construction Diversity Challenge tomorrow as part of the Federation of Master Builders team.

I'm excited to be taking part, although a little nervous about some of the challenges we might face along the way!

This is a fantastic event that celebrates the positive impact diversity brings to our industry, bringing together people from all backgrounds and at every stage of their careers. It's also a great opportunity to highlight the importance of creating a more inclusive construction industry and encouraging the next generation to consider a career in construction.

I'm proud to be supporting such an important event and looking forward to meeting lots of inspiring people throughout the day.

Good luck to everyone taking part tomorrow, let's hope the weather is kind to us!

Yesterday I attended the first REX: Women in Construction event at Medicine Bakery in the Mailbox, Birmingham.

The topic of discussion was imposter syndrome, and it was reassuring to hear such open and honest conversations from women across the industry. It reminded me that no matter where we are in our careers, many of us face similar challenges and self doubt from time to time.

One of the best things about these events is the opportunity to connect with other women in construction, share experiences, and support one another. There were some great conversations and reflections on our individual journeys into the industry.

A huge thank you to Jessica Shuker for organising and hosting such a fantastic event. The supportive network she has created is incredibly valuable, and I cannot wait for the next one on 14th July.

And of course, a special mention for the pastries from Medicine Bakery. They were honestly as big as my hand and absolutely delicious! ☕🥐

If you're a woman working in construction and looking for a supportive network, I would highly recommend coming along.

Yesterday the Graline Construction team took on the Wolf Run in Warwickshire for a brilliant team-building day.

Plenty of laughs, plenty of mud, and a reminder that good teamwork matters just as much off site as it does on site.

Well done lads — great effort all round. 👏

Wow, what a day

The launch of Women in FMB was nothing short of incredible, an inspiring space filled with powerful women supporting each other through the highs and lows of running construction businesses and stepping confidently into leadership.

Sitting around that table, I was truly moved by the strength, resilience, and honesty shared by everyone in the room. These are the moments that remind you how important community really is.

Our discussions were beautifully facilitated by the amazing Nicky Thackray from The Power Within. It was such a dream to finally meet Nicky in person and experience her passion firsthand. During my time working with her, she challenged my mindset and introduced me to the power of motivational intelligence, something that has genuinely transformed so much for me.

A huge thank you to Nicola De Sousa for organising such a thoughtful and empowering day, and for always listening and showing up for your members.
