These raised planters were designed to be low maintenance, with year round structure and wispy movement.

A Salix 'Flamingo' and Osmanthus × burkwoodii provide height and evergreen structure, while repeated drifts of ornamental grasses create movement.

We’ve got evergreen perennials, including Bergenia and Hellebores providing seasonal colour and contrasting foliage, with Teucrium, Astrantia and spring bulbs adding interest through the seasons.

The plants are young and as they establish will create a fuller border. 🌷

This olive tree and old pond area had disappeared under ivy! It was very satisfying to watch the revealing of old rocks. 😂 I never thought I’d say that.

This is my back yard, nothing fancy, but an experimentation station.

Theres been no planning but I’m trying different varieties; some edible, some for shady corners some that should probably have more sun but they have no choice but to try and survive.

My college lecturer said to always try and make at least 20% of your garden edible and I like that idea so will try and promote it.

I hate seeing the wheelie bins in my yard so I’m trying to use plants to screen them off.

Always rearranging to see what looks better.

Lots of us in Shields have limited back yard space but you can always experiment.
