A proper work in progress 💪

Full apartment skimming now underway, and it’s been a big one. Every single wall has needed serious attention — old damage, uneven surfaces, cracks, and years of wear. Each wall has taken an immense amount of prep to bring it back to a clean, straight, smooth finish.

Between the first and second coats I’ve added plastering mesh throughout the problem areas. This massively reduces the chance of any old cracks returning and gives the whole place a much stronger, longer‑lasting finish.

Still plenty to do, but the transformation already speaks for itself. More updates to come as the job moves forward.

Progress shot from a current job.
Upgraded the pipework from 8mm to 15mm and chased it straight down into the wall and behind the skirting for a proper hidden finish. Pipes have been bonded over, and a minor ceiling repair was taken care of at the same time.

Ceiling is now freshly plastered and prepped for the remaining wall work next week.
All the usual care taken to keep things clean, tidy and done right.

Before and after on this garden tidy‑up and replanting.
All leafy growth was removed from the beds and the dead wood under the tree cleared to create a clean focal point.
The beds were tilled over and replanted with a strong foundation of woody shrubs, followed by perennials and bi‑annuals, with annuals added for instant colour.
By summer this garden will be bursting with life.

A great transformation on this one.
The original wall patches had blown and failed, so we bonded over the problem areas and re‑levelled the surfaces.
All four walls were then freshly skimmed, leaving the room smooth, clean and ready for paint.
Always satisfying seeing a space go from tired to fresh again.

🔨 Patio Extension Underway – All Hand‑Dug!

Big job on this week for a customer who’s getting ready to put up a new greenhouse.
The existing patio needed extending, but with no mini digger access, this 4.5m x 4.5m area has been dug out entirely by hand.

We’ve now got the ground prepped and laid 90mm of MOT Type 1, compacted in layers for a solid base.
Next step is a full bed of concrete to ensure the new patio is strong, stable, and ready to support the greenhouse for years to come.

Plenty of hard graft going into this one, but it’s shaping up nicely. More updates soon as it comes together.

🛠 Replastering Job – Severe Damp Issue Sorted

Another room rescued from long‑term damp damage. This one needed a full strip back to brick to properly tackle the problem and give the customer a finish that will actually last.

What we did:
• Removed all blown plaster and took walls back to brick
• Installed a damp‑proof membrane to stop future issues
• Bonded and levelled the walls
• Re‑established all corners for a clean, sharp finish
• Fully skimmed to a smooth, paint‑ready surface

Next up:
Building a stud wall to hide the plumbing, then boarding and skimming to complete the room.

💷 Total cost: £600 all in
