Government stop all new SFI applications.

The government have today announced they will be stopping any new SFI applications, whilst honouring those already agreed.

This is a huge blow to the farming industry.

Exciting update for those who submitted a Capital Grant application and were placed on hold! It has been confirmed that funding has been secured, and 4,040 pending applications will now be reviewed. Additionally, the Capital Grant scheme will reopen later this year with spending caps.

The FETF grants will also open in the coming weeks.

🚜 Delinked payments will be reducing for 2025.

A 76% reduction to the first £30,000 of a payment, with no payments for any portion of a payment above £30,000. There has been no mention currently of any further reductions for 2026 and 2027 when the payments were originally set to be removed.

🚨 Chancellor Rachel Reeves confirmed changes to Agricultural Property Relief, many believe these could be catastrophic to small farms and tenant farmers. 🚨

The changes, capping the 100% relief to the first £1 million, reducing the IHT rate by 50% to create an effective 20% IHT rate, from April 2026, could force many farmers to sell to cover the tax bill.

The changes make it even more important to make sure all succession planning is done as soon as possible.

BABERGH AND MID SUFFOLK CALL FOR SITES 2024

Babergh and Mid Suffolk have opened up their call for sites following the adoption of the Babergh and Mid Suffolk Joint Local Plan Part 1 2018-2037 Development Plan Document (DPD) in November 2023. The councils are inviting site submissions to be put forward for residential land use considerations for future developments.
