After a long week starting a 16 panel slate install with battery storage, finishing up a 66 panel commercial installation and completing a second fix of a job I started 4 years ago, it's up to the lake District ready to volunteer with Festival Medical Services at the a glorious day in the sun and an amazing display of the Northan lights to finish it off.

Today was a busy one with a fuse board change, house test, new bathroom light and extractor fan installation.

The customer previously didn't have any RCD or surge protection, now their property meets regulations and has been issued with a full electrical installation certificate with notification to building control.

The extractor fan will reduce the damp in the bathroom and with the new light is ready for redecorating to begin.

First time using the Garo fuse board with surge protection and rcbos and I am very impressed, a good amount of room to work, the terminals don't flex when tightening and a good selection of cable entry.

A busy 4 days last week installing these 55 panels for 18 new build apartments. All strings tested with the seaward tester to ensure all the panels are functioning as expected.
The electrical work won't be ready for another couple of months.
Panels mounted using the brilliant K2 mounting system with integration to the buildings lightning protection system.

A great way to finish the week before the Easter break working with the amazing team and . Thank you for having me on board for this project.

A north and south facing roof installation with solar edge optimisers finished off with the solaskirt for bird protection.

The north roof is often dismissed but with good software, planning and data to prove it's importance it can really help to increase your solar production.
The north roof on this one is producing just under 50% of the days total generation compared to the south.

First time for an Instagram live as well on this one with some expert micromanaging from Sam.

These panels were installed 14 years ago on a garage roof, the customer has been having issues with water leaking into the garage and the felt failing.
When the panels were removed there were multiple broken tiles which would have caused the leaks and would have been broken during the installation.
The solar connectors were loose on the roof and not protected from the elements and at some point a bird had nested under the panels.
We have removed and cleaned all the panels ready for the new roof to be installed.
Then we will be back to reinstate the panels and install bird proofing.

UK Government Unveils VAT Relief for Domestic Energy Storage Systems

In a significant move toward green energy efficiency, the UK government has announced plans to offer VAT relief on installing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including retrofitted BESS, which will become exempt from its 20% VAT from 1 February 2024.

This development goes beyond the previous VAT relief policy, limited to batteries installed concurrently with solar panels.
