A key element of our customer service is an original approach to problem solving on difficult installations. Through our investment in digital technology we can overcome challenges with the application of customer logos when traditional sign writing just would not achieve the desired result. An up to date CAD design facility; used by Deans imaginative and creative people, has allowed us to interpret client design ideas and come up with features that they may not even know they need.
Our investment in an in-house powder coating facility means we are able to meet customer requirements for special frame colours accurately and quickly.

Renowned the world over, the great British pub is not just a place to drink beer, wine, cider or even something a little bit stronger. It is also a unique social centre, very often the focus of community life in villages, towns and cities throughout the length and breadth of the country. The British pub is immediately recognisable by its adherence to Historical architecture and traditional British decoration including the use of the Victorian awning as developed by Deans in the late 19th Century.

Today, Deans install these traditional awnings to pubs all over the UK from the smallest village Free house to major chains such as Greene King, Mitchells and Butlers and Youngs Brewery.

An important element of these traditional awnings installed to pubs is often the branding which can be of basic traditional text or of complex branding logos which we design and apply using our unique RAGS® Graphic CAD process. By this means we can replicate client logos in the finest detail and in limitless colourways.

Corporate image is important to all businesses, large and small, so consistency of design and colour is paramount. At Deans we acknowledge the importance of this fact and endeavour to always replicate client colours and logos precisely on awnings which we supply. Branding is particularly important to corporate clients and our unique RAGS® system of graphics application is a key vehicle we use to ensure continuity of design and accurate colour representation on all of our commercial awning installations.

Using the Deans branding process enables businesses to express their very own style. No longer need businesses be confined to simple text branding on their awnings. The RAGS® branding process, in combination with our sophisticated CAD design programmes, can now also be extended to producing graphics which cover the whole awning cover giving customers the option of having bespoke business branding entirely unique to them.

Having worked with the project Designers from the inception stage, we were chosen to supply and install a three specialist style retractable commercial awnings to highlight the newly renovated facia at The Elephant Store Plaza community multi-use space located on Ash Avenue, Elephant Park, London. The brief was for recessed awnings which would fit seamlessly within the facias and our SQ2 retractable commercial awning with its completely flush front profile, was found to be the perfect solution.

The SQ2 recessed retractable awning is the only product of its type available in the UK which can provide a totally flush aspect to a shopfront facia. In this case, the installation was enhanced by the aluminium profile shade which was powder coated in our own London facility to precisely meet with client specifications. The awnings are remotely controlled by a wireless switch and the aqua coloured awning fabric chosen blends perfectly with the overall scheme of the project.

It cannot be emphasised strongly enough for early client inclusion on new build or renovation projects of this type so that we are able to provide precise fixing dimensions, which may avoid unnecessary additional costs at the later build stage.

One of London’s grandest and most iconic buildings, at the heart of the City of London, The Royal Exchange has seen many different uses throughout its extraordinary history since its origins as London’s first purpose built trading centre in 1566. Like so much of central London the Royal Exchange was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666, then again by fire in 1838, this time started in Lloyds Coffee House, and, finally, severely damaged in the blitz of World War 2.

Since then, after spending nearly 50 years of varied use, including briefly returning to its trading roots in the 1980s, the Royal Exchange finally started to be treated with the dignity which it deserved and in 2001 was transformed into a luxury shopping and dining destination. Today, The Royal Exchange is commemorating a milestone in the history of this iconic City of London building, their 450th anniversary.

Deans are proud to have been appointed as an integral part of the ongoing revival of the Royal Exchange and were commissioned for the manufacture and installation of 39 Traditional Deans Victorian shop blinds to the Cornhill, Royal Exchange and Threadneedle St elevations. Each of the awnings faithfully replicates the manufacturing methods and materials which were used in 1901; at the time when the Royal Exchange was grandly selected for the proclamation of King Edward Vll.

Victorian style awnings are a common site in London’s West End shopping central area and no more so than on the famous Oxford Street. Westminster Council pay special attention to any shopfront installation in this iconic shopping area and the traditional Deans Victorian awning is particularly favoured as meets all the criteria required under the authorities strict planning regulations. It is no surprise therefore that Deans were the first choice by Superdry to supply and install traditional commercial awnings to their new flagship store which opened in November.

These bespoke Greenwich awnings installed at Le Petit Beefbar, reflect the French heritage of the client in their specially cut scalloped valance, hinting the client’s Monegasque beginnings.

We realise that not all customers want the same things and at Deans, we will adjust our commercial awnings to suit customers special requirements, whether these be as simple as a particular valance shape or a complex combination of bespoke graphics and powder coated frame colours.

A bona fide manufacturer rather than merely an assembler of awnings, Deans are in the unique position of being able to create bespoke solutions to meet customer specific requirements. These three Greenwich® awnings have been installed using custom hardwood awning boxes to protect the covers when the awnings are retracted and the covers have been decorated with custom branding through the means of our digital RAGS® graphics process.

The awnings on this site are a combination of fixed and geared operation however the Greenwich awning can also be operated remotely using wireless technology, utilising low energy sealed motors and controlled from within the restaurant by the client. It is also possible to install other automatic devices which react appropriately to climatic impulses such as wind, sun or rain.

The past week, the southern UK has been experiencing strong winds. At Deans we offer wind sensors for our electric awnings. These sensors detect changes in the weather and automatically retracts the awning when winds get too strong.

Fitting junction covers to Deans Traditional Awnings, when installed in multiple units, is the craftsman’s way of ensuring continuous cover to patrons socialising outside in fair or less fair weather. These six Deans Traditional Awnings which we have installed on the sophisticated 108 Brasserie on Welbeck Street, Marylebone, have all been manufactured in the Deans Traditional way with environmentally harvested hard woods coated to a high standard of finish with water based stains or paint. We take the supply of our timber very seriously and our insistence on FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) suppliers as our source of timber ensures that all materials meet the PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) requirements. Steel component parts are powder coated for maximum weather resistance. The main awning cover and valance have been branded using our bespoke RAGS® graphic application process which ensure fine detail logos and long lasting coverage.
