☀️ Solar Loves Sun. Not Heat. ☀️
Here's something that surprises most people...
While this week's heatwave will bring plenty of sunshine, extreme temperatures can actually make solar panels less efficient.
Solar panels generate electricity from sunlight, not heat. In fact, they're tested at around 25°C, and once temperatures climb above that, performance gradually starts to fall. During a UK heatwave, roof-mounted panels can reach temperatures of 60°C or more, reducing efficiency by up to 10-20%.
The takeaway? Solar panels love sunlight, but they don't necessarily love the heat.
As UK summers become warmer, good system design, ventilation and battery storage are becoming more important than ever for maximising performance and savings.
