It’s been all about mechanism repairs and lock upgrades this week! 💪

Thought I’d try something a little different… 😅 It’s my first attempt at this, so go easy on me! 🤣

I thought it would be fun to give you a behind-the-scenes look at a typical day at AHLP Locksmiths. Every day is different, and it’s always fast-paced, travelling all over Bristol helping customers. I did forget to film a few jobs before getting stuck in (and only remembered once they were finished! 🤦‍♂️), but hopefully it gives you a good idea of what my days look like.

A customer called us today after another locksmith told them their door needed a new gearbox and that it would take up to two weeks to get the replacement.

Luckily, they gave AHLP Locksmiths a call before committing.

We had the correct gearbox in stock, arrived at the property, diagnosed the fault, and had the door fully repaired with the right parts fitted — all within an hour of the customer’s call.

🔐 Busy, busy keeping homes and businesses secure! Here’s a look at some of the jobs we’ve completed recently:

🏠 Gained entry for a customer who had lost their keys and couldn’t accept the delivery of their new fridge. We got the door open, replaced the lock, and the new fridge was delivered without any further delays.

🔒 Opened a safe after the customer had misplaced the keys and the battery had gone flat. We picked it open, got everything working again, and saved the day.

🚪 Fitted a new bedroom door lock for added privacy and security.

🔥 Installed a thumb turn on a fire exit door, making it quick and easy to exit safely in an emergency.

🔑 Replaced a rim cylinder for a customer who had recently moved into their new home, giving them complete peace of mind.

⚙️ Replaced a failed door mechanism for a customer who’d already had a rogue locksmith out, leaving them with a hefty quote for unnecessary work. They called us for a second opinion, we came straight over, diagnosed the real issue, and had the door working properly again, saving them money and a lot of stress.

Every job is different, but the goal is always the same: honest advice, quality workmanship, and getting our customers secure again.

🚪🔑 Garage Door Saved! 🔑🚪

A customer contacted us after unfortunately losing the keys to their garage door, with moving day fast approaching and time running out.

After assessing the situation, we discovered that the existing locking mechanism was obsolete and no longer available. Rather than leaving the customer with a non-functional garage door, we sourced and installed an alternative locking solution that could be adapted to the existing setup.

We now have a secure garage door and a fully functioning electric operator once again, ready for the customer to move out with complete peace of mind. ✅

No matter how unusual or outdated the lock, we always aim to find a practical and cost-effective solution where possible.

Wow this was a hot one today! ☀️🥵

We called in Steve from South Gloucestershire Locksmiths to help out with the job today and what a busy one it turned out to be! 🔐

✔️ X4 new mortice locks fitted where there were originally just handles
✔️ X2 new handles fitted alongside a Union 5 Lever to replace an old existing lock
✔️ Gain entry completed on some patio doors with seized rack bolts
✔️ Wine cellar lock sorted after the customer couldn’t get the key in from one side
✔️ Replace a worn out mortice lock on a wooden stable door

All completed and working perfectly again 👌

And to top it all off, the customer even provided us with some sandwiches which definitely went down well in this heat! 😄
