This time, it’s a serious build-up of soot and deposits 😳

This is exactly why regular chimney sweeping is so important. You can’t always see what’s building up inside your flue, but it can affect how safely your appliance operates and how effectively smoke and gases can escape.

Much more build up here could have blocked the flue completely leaving a very dangerous situation.

This clump of cobwebs was taken from a flue today. Even something like a cobweb can restrict a flue and affect the safe escape of dangerous gases, including carbon monoxide.

The rope seal around your stove door helps create a good seal when the door is closed. If it’s worn, loose or hanging away from the door, it can affect how your stove burns and how well you can control the airflow.

Cracked or damaged stove glass should also never be ignored. Apart from spoiling the view of your fire, damaged glass can affect the safe operation of the appliance.

A quick check of your stove before the burning season starts can help identify these problems early — and sometimes it’s a simple repair that makes all the difference.
