We’re still pinching ourselves...

Last week, AlphaOne Electrics was recognised at the British Renewable Energy Awards 2026, winning the Rising Star Award.

For a small Cornish company, this is a huge achievement and one that means a great deal to us.

When AlphaOne was founded, the goal was simple, to provide honest advice, quality workmanship and help people make the most of renewable energy technologies. Since then, we’ve worked hard to grow, learn and adapt in an industry that is changing all the time, while always keeping our customers at the centre of what we do.

This award reflects the effort of our whole team and the support we’ve received from our customers, suppliers, friends and family along the way.

To be recognised on a national stage alongside some of the biggest names in renewable energy is something we will never take for granted.

There are some projects that carry a little more responsibility than most.

This solar installation at St Mawgan Church was one of them.

As a local business, it was a privilege to play a part in helping such an important community building reduce its energy costs and generate its own clean electricity for years to come.

The installation includes a 7.65kW solar array, battery storage, Tigo optimisation and bird protection, all carefully designed and installed to suit the building and its surroundings.

A great project to be involved in, and one the whole AlphaOne Electrics team is proud of.

Looking into solar? Watch out for this one red flag.

If someone is rushing you into a system and simply saying, “Yeah, a 3.68kW inverter will do,” without properly explaining why, it’s worth asking a few more questions.

In some cases, a 3.68kW inverter is absolutely the right choice. But not always.

We still see systems being designed around avoiding additional DNO paperwork, rather than what is actually best for the customer long term.

There’s very little point having a large solar array capable of producing lots of energy if your inverter cannot properly utilise it.

A good solar design should take into account your electricity usage, future battery storage, EV charging, heat pumps, possible expansion and long-term performance.

At AlphaOne Electrics, we believe every customer should understand why a system is being recommended, not just be handed the quickest option.

Another lovely 5-star review following a recent EV charge point installation
This customer came to us after being recommended by a friend, which always means a lot. From the first enquiry, we arranged a free site survey, talked through their EV charging needs, and provided a clear quotation with a full breakdown of the costs involved.

Once the installation was complete, we also made sure everything was properly finished behind the scenes, including:

National Grid notification
Electrical Installation Certificate
Building Regulations certification
Full handover documents

Octopus are dropping their smart charging rate to just 5.5p/kWh from April 1st.

That means a full charge on our electric vans costs around £5.
