Welcome to Susie-Do :) I am Sue, a mature (ish) woman who enjoys craft but never had much time to do that much with it. I have always enjoyed cross stitch and embroidery but with a family, job, home to run etc., found that time was in short supply. e. It was very hard work but gradually and as funds permitted, we renovated our property bit by bit, room by room. I enjoyed choosing colours for internal decoration and trying out stencilling, tile painting all sorts of things. The "beams" in our kitchen were created out of plaster and a cat grooming comb. People are always surprised to fine that they are not wood but more an attempt to give our kitchen character in keeping with the age of the house. I welcome any suggestions you have for items that you would like to see decorated or perhaps given a new lease of life - its amazing what difference a lick of paint, some time and patience can make to something which has perhaps seen better days. For my page I have mainly been using decoupage. I paint terracotta pots, spoons, coat hangers, picture frames etc. and hand cut pictures using a scalpel, pop them onto the pots, varnish them to protect the image and therefore make items which are unique, hand crafted with some thought, creativity and attention to detail put into them. People can go to any shop and buy something which is mass produced - I could use machinery to cut my pictures - but I prefer to give an item the time and thought to make it special and unique. This also satisfied the "arty" person within me! I cover candles, make paper cut pictures and I have ideas for future items too. Please feel free to share it and to ask any questions. Susie Do :)
