What keeps someone with the same company for 15 or even 20 years?
For McCusker and Lloyd, it has meant growing with Spelsberg, taking on new challenges and helping shape the business along the way.
That’s why we’re proud to recognise Clare for 15 years of service and Chris for 20. Both began at Spelsberg in territory sales roles before progressing into senior positions, and both have played an important part in supporting customers, delivering key projects and making our business what it is.

In a fire-protection circuit, a junction box is not always just a junction box.

Sometimes the job is simply to connect or extend a fire-resistant cable. In other cases, a downstream branch needs its own fuse. And sometimes the supply must continue through the installation while a separate branch receives independent protection.

Choosing between these approaches can have a major impact on fault isolation, maintenance and the ability of critical systems to keep operating during a fire.

Our latest article looks at the difference between standard connection, fused and safeguarded fused fire-protection enclosures, and explains where each approach fits within a wider electrical safety strategy.

Adding new power connections to an existing cable run can quickly become a bigger job than expected, especially in tunnels, industrial plants and other demanding environments.

Spelsberg’s Rapid-Box is designed to make the process simpler. It enables tap conductors to be added to uncut copper cables up to 50 mm², allowing new sockets, lighting or other equipment to be connected without cutting the existing supply cable.

The enclosure can be mounted horizontally or vertically on walls, ceilings or cable trays, while robust, UV-resistant materials and options for functional integrity support use in challenging installations.

For retrofit projects in particular, that means a faster route to adding new connections with less disruption to the existing system.

Outdoor and industrial installations have to contend with far more than rain.

UV exposure, dirt, dust, chemicals, temperature changes and physical impact can all threaten the equipment inside an enclosure. That’s why Spelsberg’s GEOS range is designed to provide dependable protection against these demanding conditions while remaining flexible and straightforward to install.

Manufactured from robust polycarbonate, GEOS enclosures offer corrosion resistance, high weather and UV resistance, and IK09 impact protection. The Drain Protect system helps channel rain and snow away from the enclosure seal, reducing the risk of moisture ingress.

Tool-free mounting brackets, several fixing options and a wide choice of sizes and covers also help users adapt the enclosure to suit the needs of each installation.

What happens when your chosen enclosure is almost perfect, but needs a couple tweaks?

A standard housing may offer the correct material, size and protection rating, yet still lack the exact cut-outs, cable entries or mounting points needed for the application. The question is how to adapt it without adding too much cost, delaying production or weakening its protective integrity.

Should you use CNC machining, invest in modular tooling or start with a completely bespoke design? The best answer often depends on production volume, complexity and how quickly the first units are needed.

Our latest article explores the options available and explains how the right approach can provide a smooth path from prototype to high-volume production.

Labelling should make identification clearer, not create extra work.

For enclosure projects, details such as item numbers, barcodes, logos, manufacture dates and special symbols can all play an important role in traceability and quality assurance. Applying the right label from the start helps avoid unnecessary re-labelling, covering or removal later in the process.

That’s why our labelling service allows individual markings to be applied directly to goods on request, helping customers align enclosure identification with their own documentation, orders and delivery notes.

Small details can make a big difference when customising an enclosure.

For some applications, additional threads are required to mount the enclosure itself or secure specific components inside. If the thread is not placed or cut accurately, it can affect alignment, fastening and even leak-tightness.

Spelsberg’s tapping capability is designed to support this level of accuracy. Using CNC machining and specialist experience in processing plastic enclosures, threads can be produced cleanly and precisely, helping ensure each customised enclosure performs as intended.

In a large building, one small electrical fault can have serious consequences during a fire.
That is why branch-level protection is such an important part of fire safety design in places like railway stations, airports, stadia, tunnels and other complex public buildings. Fire alarms, smoke extraction and emergency lighting all need to keep working, even if part of the system fails.
But adding local fusing to support this protection also introduces new design challenges. The fuse itself must survive heat, pressure changes, water exposure and the wider demands of an emergency environment.
Our latest article looks at why fire-safety enclosure design is more complex than it first appears, and what designers, installers and building managers need to consider when specifying protected circuits.

Strong enclosure solutions start with strong tools.

At Spelsberg, tool design and tool construction are handled by qualified in-house specialists, supported by modern machining centres and proven production processes. This helps ensure that every stage, from early development through to series production, is built around quality, precision and efficiency.

For customer-specific projects, Spelsberg brings developers and customers together from the start to define requirements and create an initial 3D CAD model. By keeping the full customising process within the main factory, teams can collaborate closely, refine each stage and move from idea to certified serial product with confidence.

The best solutions come from understanding how products will actually be used on-site.

That’s why, at Spelsberg, development is built around close collaboration with customers, combining engineering expertise with practical feedback throughout the process. Instead of relying solely on lengthy specifications, ideas can be tested, refined and improved through rapid prototyping and real-world evaluation.

Supported by in-house testing facilities, this agile approach helps transform customer requirements into reliable, application-ready products.
