This is the stupendous ‘Trailing Rosemary. ’(Rosmarinus officinalis 'Prostratus Group’ as we refer to it in private).⁠ Seriously who else loves a latin plant name first thing in the morning?⁠

Trailing Rosemary? It sure is.⁠
⁠
This variety of Rosemary doesn't grow uprights, the stems are naturally inclined to trail or provide ground cover. This is a seriously useful quality. The plant can be used to provide ground cover, it will grow up a guide to form interesting shapes or be integrated into a ‘living wall’ planting arrangement. It can be planted alongside alpines in a rockery to provide aroma, flavour and also gorgeous shape and form within your planting scheme. ⁠

For us, it’s greatest quality is the fact that it trails when you plant it into a container or hanging basket. It looks so cool spilling down the side of a terracotta pot. It seems to add depth to a herb planting combination that might largely grow upright. We like our kitchen garden to be a feast of all the senses, looking sensational as well as smelling exciting. ⁠

It's easy to grow and very hardy. Trailing Rosemary will enjoy being planted somewhere sunny. Drainage is very important. It really doesn’t like being waterlogged. It will also benefit from regular pruning to avoid the plant becoming leggy.⁠

Chefs that we work with rave about trailing Rosemary. Several have commented to us that they feel the flavour is more delicate, juicy and succulent as the young stem seems softer than traditional upright Rosemary. Who are we to argue with some of the amazing chefs we call friends?⁠
