Jobs to consider for April/ Early May.

Feed hungry shrubs and roses being careful not to apply to much fertiliser on emerging shoots so not to burn them.
Sow new lawns or repair bare patches.
Prune fig trees.
Keep weeds under control with regular hoeing and hand weeding.
Tie in climbing and rambling roses.
Start to feed citrus plants
Increase the water given to houseplants.
Plant summer-flowering bulbs, if not done already.
Remove faded daffodil and tulip flowers, nipping off the heads and seed pod at the same time.

Deadhead pansies, primulas and other spring bedding plants. Pansies will carry on into the spring and even into early summer, if dead headed regularly.
Remove tired winter bedding and plants that did not survive the winter, even shrubs.
Check that self-seeding forget-me-not isn’t smothering other plants. Remove if overcrowding is the case.
