Found this awesome bush cricket (I think a Roesel's bush cricket, Metrioptera roeselii) yesterday climbing up the wall of a client's house. Love the colours and the detail, the patterns on its exoskeleton are fascinating.

Yew topiary in Clifton. Before and after. I've been slowly encouraging this yew into a ball shape over the last few seasons, it was twice as tall and it's been taken time to get the top to thicken up after being reduced by 50%. It's thickening up well now and it's one of my favourite tasks in this garden.

Dug and planted up this border for a client today. Planted a mix of bulbs herbs and herbaceous perennials including alliums, verbena, hollyhocks, foxgloves, Japanese anemone, geraniums, oragano and sea holly. The brief was to create a low maintenance pollinator border that would flower throughout the year and create a habitat for insects in a limited space (and also hide the outdoor cable and keep it safe from the mower!). The plants will provide height and soften the line of the bed which has been kept straight to make mowing and edging easier for the client. Once a year the plants can be cut down reducing the maintenance and hopefully encouraging self seeding and further propagation of plants.

Apple tree pruning season! This one is super productive and very much loved by it's owner, but was starting to get out of control. I removed the middle growth to improve the shape and create a solid framework from which to work off next year. This means that the tree won't grow out of control to balance its root ball and crown, and it should still produce a decent crop this summer 🌞 🍎🍏
