🔌 Garden Outbuilding Project – First Fix Underway! 🏡✨

We’re currently working on a fantastic project installing the electrical supply to a large garden outbuilding for one of our customers.

This space is being transformed into a fully functional extension of the home, complete with a kitchen area, toilet, shower room, seating area and TV space – perfect for relaxing or entertaining guests.

To power the building safely and efficiently, we’ve installed armoured cable run through underground ducting from the main property to the outbuilding. We’re now on site completing the first fix, preparing for downlights inside and stylish external downlights around the outside fascia to give it that perfect finish.

It’s always great being involved in projects like this and helping bring our customers’ ideas to life from the ground up.

Today started off with Mick, carrying out remedial works following a recent EICR we completed on the property.

We replaced the fuse board to bring everything up to current standards, moved a ceiling light so it was properly centred in the room (which is more common than you’d think), and upgraded old bathroom downlight transformers. The older halogen-style transformers can generate a lot of heat, so replacing them improves safety and reduces fire risk.

After that, I headed to another job where a customer had integrated LED downlights fitted throughout the property. Several had failed, so I replaced the affected fittings and got everything working properly again.

Whether it’s upgrading older electrics, improving safety after an inspection, or replacing faulty lighting, all jobs get the same level of care and attention.

🔌 Another Productive Day at EMF Wiring Solutions ⚡

Today’s jobs were a great mix of practical upgrades and modern smart technology.

First stop was installing a new outdoor socket for a customer, perfect for garden tools, pressure washers, or even outdoor lighting. With spring just around the corner, it’s a great time to get your outside electrics ready 🌿

While there, the customer also wanted more control over her lighting. I installed a Shelly smart switch to control the hallway, porch and outdoor lights.

She can now:
✔ Turn her lights on and off from anywhere using an app
✔ Set schedules so lights come on automatically in the evening
✔ Improve security and peace of mind when she’s away

Smart lighting is a simple upgrade that makes a big difference – especially if you travel or want that extra bit of convenience.

Later in the day, I installed a new oven for a landlord, ensuring everything was safely connected, tested and ready for tenants.

We fitted this lovely round LED mirror in a customer’s bathroom this week. It gives off a soft, clean light that’s ideal above the sink perfect for getting ready in the mornings or just adding a bit of style to the room.

Installed new wiring neatly behind the mirror. The mirror looks great lit up and really lifts the space.

Five dogs were rescued from a property after a fire that was caused by an overloaded plug socket.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service was called to a property in Takely End in Basildon, at 17:07 GMT on Thursday, where two people escaped through an upstairs window with the help of neighbours.

The service said the cause of the fire was related to Christmas tree lights and an extension socket which had several electrical items plugged into it.
Kevin Smith, watch manager for the fire service, said: "The property didn't have working smoke alarms and because the occupants were upstairs it delayed how quickly they realised there was a fire."

The fire service said the dogs were left in the care of the RSPCA, and the two occupants, who had breathed in smoke, were left in the care of the ambulance service.

"As well as highlighting the importance of having at least one working smoke alarm on every floor, the incident show how vital it is to plan an escape route and make sure your exits are accessible in case of an emergency," Mr Smith added.

Safety advice was issued by the service, external reminding people not to overload plug sockets or multiple-socket plug extension cables.
