Well… we just about finished this garden before the rain arrived!

The planting is going in soon, and we can’t wait to see how it all settles in and grows into the proper cottage garden we’ve imagined.

Roll on next summer, we think it’s going to be rather lovely.

There’s something about a circular pattern that just makes paving look that little bit more special. Laying brick paving in a circle takes a fair bit of precision working from the centre outwards, carefully setting the angles and spacing so the curves stay consistent and the pattern comes together.

It’s one of those jobs where the finished result looks effortless… but there’s plenty of skill underneath it.

Is your lawn looking more ‘crispy’ than ‘lush’ right now?
The good news is that your lawn probably isn’t dead, it’s just taking a little summer holiday of its own.

Established grass can turn brown and stop growing during drought, but it will usually spring back to life when the rain returns.

With hosepipe restrictions in place in some parts of the UK, now is the time to save water where you can. Collect rainwater, reuse suitable household water and don’t panic-water an established lawn.

Raise the mower height and let the grass rest. When the rain finally arrives, it may surprise you.
