Todays Job. Went to fit a new oven, for a good customer of mine. Noticed wrong sized cabling for the oven had been used to connect the oven and hob. 6mm2 into 2.5 which caused the oven the blow and trip the electrics. This is a potential fire hazard as it’s too much load for the cable to handle and without fuse protection! Junction box swapped out for a single socket and outlet plate, with 6mm2 instead of 2.5. Always check any person providing you with electrical works is fully competent and qualified, before any works are carried out.

Little Sunday Job completed today in Washington. Mains board upgraded, with rcbos and surge protection.
Meter tails upgraded from 16mm2 to 25mm2 and main earth upgraded from 6 to 10mm2.
Gas bond also upgraded to 10mm2.

Latest condition report. Earth bonding upgraded for both gas and water from 4mm2 to 10mm2 Earth cable.
Mental clad socket exceeded its IP rating, potential electric shock hazard.

Sockets and lights in conservatory found to have been spurred off a spur and 1mm2 twin used to feed the lights without a fused spur in line. 2 fused spurs added to prevent cables over loading and avoid a potential fire risk. Always make sure your work is done and certified by a competent person.
