Unfortunately, we are dealing with our second fly-tipping incident this week. Luckily we have very clear footage of the perpetrator the first time around and all of our evidence has been sent to environmental health. Thank you Washington Fireplace Centre for helping us out with this.
Hopefully we will have evidence this time as well so please think twice before discarding your waste, recycling - or, in this case, perfectly good children’s clothing and toys - in our estate or anywhere other than the appropriate bin, recycling centre or charity shop. I’m confident that, other than Jodie’s Slimming World journal, the majority of items can be passed on to a local charity shop. If you recognise any of these items, please get in touch to help us identify the perpetrator. If you are responsible for this, I’m sure you will hope for the best until environmental health catch up with you. Another hour of my working day lost to an idiot who can’t be bothered to treat their own local environment with even a basic level of respect. Not cool.

This is a plea to the good people of Washington…

If anyone has had this flooring fitted over the weekend, I hope you haven’t paid anyone to dispose of your waste for you. I have spent the last 30 minutes sorting our recycling bin out due to some fly tipping, including plywood and packaging of flooring and tools that we do not supply.

To whoever thinks it is acceptable to use the resources of a small, hardworking family business: we shall be locking our bins in the warehouse from now on so you will have to rethink your business plan. 🤔

Hi everyone!!! 💙

Could our amazing supporters please read….

Throughout the lockdown of 2020, we took on the previously owned Greggs shop next door to us, this was initially used for storage, then progressed into a mini pop-up shop! 👠🥻👗

Our incredible volunteers have spent many hours in their selling our pre-loved donations and chatting to our lovely customers, this cookies corner full of bargains helped us raise vital funds and provided a warm space when the weather was too cold for our ‘Market Ladies’ to still see their regular customers.

This year we are having to make decisions about renewing our leases… We are pleased to announce…. That we are not going anywhere!! 🎉

Your much-loved Charlie & Carter’s Charity Shop will still be bursting with fantastic donations at our original shop – 18 Denmark Centre, South Shields, NE33 2LR.

We will be leaving our storage and pop-up shop on the 22nd July 2026, due to the ever-rising overhead costs. Our hard-earned funds are massively appreciated and our CCF Families are at the front of our minds when we look at how we can help them more. Reducing our utilities costs, rent costs, rates etc is the best way for us to keep striving forward and financially supporting the parents of children who are suffering a life-limiting condition.

Our shop will continue to be bursting with donations, and all our lovely staff and volunteers are super keen to get this new chapter on the road, lots more staff and volunteers working in our main shop, ready to greet our supporters with a boat load of love and appreciation.
