I was asked to carry out a repair to this stable door, where the bottom half had suffered at the ingress of wet rot.

In my workshop, I made a new door from joinery grade pine. Tongue and grooved boards were primed before fitting and I added a weatherboard, which was absent from the original.

The client is getting this timber primed and painted before the long awaited wet weather arrives! 🌧️

Five linear-style doors fitted around the first floor of this property, complete with door furniture in an antique brass finish.

It was necessary to move the door stops on this one as they new doors were 5mm thicker than the old. Layers of loose paint began peeling away from this former council-owned home, in the process.

Fortunately, redecorating the upstairs was already next on the client's agenda!

My most recent boxing in work, using moisture resistant MDF to create Shaker style doors. This will be painted by the client in time (they may then wish to replace the k***s).

If you're interested in something similar and have your own wires and gizmos to hide away, please get in touch.

Although I didn't build this bookcase, I was asked to make amendments to it, as the carpenter who fitted it wasn't available.

Inside, the latch had broken. It needed to be replaced and then fixed in a more secure manner. You can also see where it had been dragging along the carpet.

A learning experience in how to potentially build one of these and where the pitfalls may lie.

To complete the set of a recent job to install 1930s style doors, this pair of sliding doors was anything but straightforward.

Having started fixing in to the wall, I found the substrate wasn't as reliable as hoped and so, I had to return a second time with a tube of resin and a plan that would work.

After that, my only hindrance was in the discovery that neither door had been manufactured with a perfectly straight edge! Soft close hardware was also fitted, to remove the risk of the two doors colliding.

A selection of 1930s style oak doors fitted to a property in Banwell. Typical doors in this style are only glazed for the top third so, the client chose a slightly different oak door for the kitchen, with a larger volume of glass.

These will be oiled by the client. I think the antique brass finish on all hardware works really well.

A job for next week will be to fit this oak door and frame at a local church, where the existing door has seen better days.

For now, I've given it a full coat of oil, so that everything remains clean until the point of fitting.
