The Connolly family are deeply sad to announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague Julie Lowe.

Julie was often referred to as the OG of Connolly. She was our founder Tony’s first employee and totted up a total of 35 years of service. There was nothing about our business that she didn’t know.

As people have remembered their favourite Julie moments over the last couple of weeks, we’ve reminisced about the number of times she was the last one on the karaoke, the number of Baby Guinness she could consume and the time she placed a wheelie bin between her and Tony when he was getting on her nerves.

Many people also called Julie their Work Mum – she was a wonderful listener, offered great advice and was always so kind.

She leaves a massive hole in our lives. We are wondering who will tell us to crack on with things now.

Team Connolly will be honouring Julie at our company conference next week, where we’ll also gather ideas for a more lasting memorial to her. In the meantime, we’d appreciate any donations to her chosen charities which are the Winstanley Ward at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan and Macmillan Cancer Support.

This Easter, we wanted to spread a little joy where it matters most 🥚

We donated Easter eggs to the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary's neonatal unit for their annual raffle. A massive thanks to Nicola for organising it! The funds raised will go straight towards equipment for the unit. Those tiny patients and their families deserve all the support they can get 🐥

We also dropped some eggs off at The Pantry in Rochdale, where our very own Michelle volunteers. The Pantry is a brilliant community scheme where members can pick up two bags of fresh groceries for just £4. Michelle's been giving up her Wednesday mornings to help keep it running, and we couldn't be prouder of her 🐰

Happy Easter from all of us at Connolly! 💛

Connolly helps to breathe new life into Oldham community hub!

Working alongside First Choice Homes Oldham and Wates Group, Connolly has contributed to the revamp of the main room at Apfel Lane Community Centre in Chadderton, which closed late last year.

The work is part of FCHO’s social value drive and has seen Connolly invest £3,500 on new windows to make the building warmer and more energy-efficient.

Our Senior Project Manager Jonathan Mayoh commented, "Working closely with our communities is essential, as it strengthens trust, ensures the work we deliver reflects real local needs, and creates long‑lasting social value."

With rates of poor mental health increasing across society, we're taking proactive steps to support Team Connolly.

We've partnered with leading mental health charity Mates in Mind to discover our strengths and where we can better support our people going through tough times.

Our actions so far have included training 7 mental health first aiders, improving our Return To Work interviews after periods of illness and the launch of a new helpline for anyone struggling with anxiety, depression, stress or loneliness.

Having open and honest conversations is at the heart of our approach. Fortunately, that's something that comes very naturally to us.

Remember, you're not alone and help is always available.

The Connolly team were only too happy to support Incommunities Housing Association with their Christmas hamper and gift appeal this year.

Julie Cartwright and her team of elves packed up a selection of boxes that will be delivered to families experiencing hardship this festive season, whether through illness, loneliness or bereavement.

That's the real spirit of Christmas!

Pigs in blankets, the King's speech, carols? What does Christmas mean to you?

At Connolly, we like to make sure that Christmas is a special time for children whose families might be struggling with the cost of living. Cash for Kids have organised Mission Christmas to get presents to every child, and we have been proud to do our bit to support this great cause.

Last week, Team Connolly wore their Christmas jumpers to the office and on site, and raised a generous £275 as a result. Our kind hearted staff have also been busy donating several bulging sacks of presents to distribute to children who might not have had a visit from Santa otherwise.

If you have a couple of pounds to spare, we'd appreciate any final donations.

We're delighted to announce a major partnership with Community Gateway to bring brand-new kitchens and bathrooms to homes right here in Preston!

What's Happening?
Our specialist teams will be working across the city until March 2026 to transform family homes with:
🔨 166 brand-new kitchens
🔨 54 kitchen upgrades
🔨 21 beautiful new bathrooms

We know kitchens and bathrooms are the heart of every home. These upgrades aren't just about making things look nicer—they're about making life better for you and your family:
✨ Better daily routines – modern, functional spaces make cooking and cleaning easier and more enjoyable
✨ Peace of mind – brand-new electrics, plumbing and fixtures that are safe and reliable
✨ Easier to keep clean – modern materials and designs are simpler to maintain, promoting a healthier home
✨ A space to be proud of – updated, attractive rooms that feel fresh and comfortable

This project is about so much more than just home improvements. It's about investing in Preston and the people who live here. We're employing local tradespeople, working with local suppliers, and ensuring our teams spend their money right here in our community. When we succeed, Preston succeeds.

As Chris Connolly, our CEO, says: "Winning this contract in Preston means we're committed to our community. These projects allow us to invest directly into the local economy—through the people we employ, the businesses we partner with, and the lasting improvements we bring to residents' homes. It's about creating real change and helping the community thrive."

If your home is part of this programme, we can't wait to work with you!
Together, let's make Preston's homes brighter, safer, and more beautiful. 💙
