🎨I know many of you have asked for more Interiors paintings so here is the sketch for a 40x40cm painting of your favourite piano room. I couldn’t resist getting started on this painting this morning just before we’re off to see grandma to wish her happy 80th birthday 🎂

Not quite sure what it is, but there is something incredibly modern and graphic about choosing a composition that is straight on. It’s almost invited to enter the room and see it as it is as I am painting it. This time I’m doing away with the antique table and chairs because I really want to show the beauty of the fireplace in more detail.

Curious about the story behind 'Early Morning at Anna's Study' and the way it captures the atmospheric charm of a beloved childhood space - the intimate, somewhat grand study of my Great Aunt Anna? Read on:

This painting is presented in my signature muted and moody colour palette, transforming the small room into a timeless sanctuary. The walls are steeped in a deep, elegant forest green, providing a rich backdrop for the detail of Georgian architectural prints encased in gilded frames. This contrast amplifies the sense of historical dignity and peace.

This is Anna's kingdom: a place of history, creativity, and industry. It was a room that was her inner sanctum: us, little people, we're not allowed to enter it unless invited...
Central to the scene is her antique desk and chair, surrounded by the subtle treasures of a life well-lived.
Note the stacks of garden diaries, the neatly wrapped seed packs, and the elegant potted plants, all testament to this kind and busy woman's passion. The composition aptly captures a spectic, peacetul moment, inviting the viewer to share in the golden memory of entering a magical world of yesteryear.

Returning once again to one of my favourite subjects: the dining/piano room. There is something magical about the way the light catches the dark wood, the antique mirror, and the soft glow of the fireplace that keeps pulling me back. Every time I paint this space, I see new depths and shadows.

🍂 What is your favourite autumn flower? Mine is definitely the humble aster; quite simple in itself but en masse it becomes this pink gorgeousness 🌺

These asters, including the just about to turn pink sedums, all come from my garden. Painting in season, using my garden flowers gives me so much joy! 👩‍🎨
