🔋 Scottish Power – Reinforced Concrete Bunded Wall System 🔋
One of the projects we're catching up on sharing, this scheme was delivered for a main contractor, with our team engaged as specialist subcontractors to construct a safe, robust, and durable reinforced concrete containment structure ✅
A reinforced concrete bunded wall system is designed to safely contain liquids such as diesel, fuel, oil, chemicals, and other potentially hazardous substances ☣️
The system comprises a reinforced concrete base slab and integral reinforced concrete walls, connected via a cast-in-situ concrete kicker to create a single monolithic structure 🚧
Steel reinforcement was installed throughout the slab, kicker, and walls, with reinforcement lapped and tied to ensure structural continuity, strength, and long-term durability. This approach provides a watertight containment area capable of resisting liquid pressures and external loading conditions 🏗️
The primary purpose of the bund is to contain any accidental spills, leaks, or equipment failures, preventing pollutants from escaping into the surrounding environment. The completed bunded enclosure was constructed to meet the required containment capacity in accordance with relevant environmental and safety standards 🦺
Scope of Works:
✔ Reinforced concrete base slab construction
✔ Cast-in-situ reinforced concrete kicker
✔ Reinforced concrete bunded/retaining walls tied into slab reinforcement
✔ Watertight concrete construction
✔ Containment area for generators, fuel tanks, transformers, and associated equipment
✔ Environmental protection against fuel, oil, and chemical contamination
Projects like this demonstrate the importance of quality workmanship, technical expertise, and attention to detail when delivering critical infrastructure for the energy sector
