🔨 TRUST THURSDAY 🔨

When you invite a tradesperson into your home, you’re putting a lot of trust in them.

You’re trusting them with your home, your money and your vision for what you want to achieve — and that’s something I never take for granted.

For me, trust isn’t built by making big promises. It’s built by the little things:

🔨 Turning up when I say I will.
💬 Keeping you updated throughout the job.
🏠 Treating your home with respect.
💷 Being upfront about costs and any changes along the way.
🛠️ Taking pride in the work, including the bits you’ll never see once the job is finished.
🤝 And if there’s a problem? Being honest about it and finding a solution.

Some of the best compliments I receive aren’t just about the finished job — they’re when customers come back to CNB for another project or recommend me to their family and friends.

That’s when I know I’ve earned their trust.

At CNB Construction, I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, knowing what’s happening and confident that your home is in good hands from the first conversation to the final finishing touches.

Built on Quality, Focused on You.

🏠 The Biggest Mistakes People Make Before Starting a Renovation

Planning a renovation is exciting — you’ve probably already got a picture in your head of how you want it to look when it’s finished! 🤩

But before the tools come out, getting the planning right can save you time, money and a whole lot of stress later on.

Here are 5 common mistakes to avoid 👇

💷 1. Not Setting a Realistic Budget
Don’t just budget for the obvious costs. It’s always sensible to keep some money aside for those unexpected surprises that can appear once work gets underway.

📋 2. Rushing the Planning Stage
Take the time to think about exactly what you want from the space. Changing your mind halfway through can cause delays and additional costs.

📏 3. Forgetting the Practical Stuff
It’s easy to focus on how everything will look, but think about electrics, plumbing, storage, lighting and how you’ll actually use the space every day.

📅 4. Underestimating How Long It Will Take
Good work takes time! Allow for materials, deliveries, different trades and the unexpected rather than planning around an unrealistic deadline.

💰 5. Choosing on Price Alone
The cheapest quote isn’t necessarily the best value. Look at experience, previous work, what’s actually included in the quote and whether you feel confident in the person doing the job.

⭐ The best renovations don’t start with a hammer — they start with a good plan.

🔨 IT’S ALL IN A DAY’S WORK AT CNB CONSTRUCTION

There’s been plenty going on behind the scenes at CNB this week!

From plastering and setting out indoors to getting up on the roof outside — no two days are ever quite the same. And that’s exactly how we like it.

A lot of what goes into a renovation happens long before you see the finished photos.

It’s the preparation, measuring, levelling, problem solving and getting stuck in that makes all the difference to the end result.

We thought we’d share a few proper behind-the-scenes photos for a change — no filters, no fancy finished rooms, just Craig doing what he does best. 🔨

🌿 How to Keep Your Decking Looking Its Best All Year Round

Decking can completely transform a garden, but the good old British weather can certainly put it through its paces! ☀️🌧️❄️

A little regular maintenance can help keep it looking great and, more importantly, help it last longer.

🧹 1. Keep It Clean
Regularly sweep away leaves, dirt and debris. Leaving them sitting on your decking can trap moisture and encourage mould and algae.

💦 2. Give It a Proper Clean
A good clean once or twice a year will help remove built-up dirt and grime. Just be careful with pressure washers — too much pressure can damage timber.

🪵 3. Protect the Wood
Depending on the type of decking, applying a suitable oil, stain or protective treatment can help protect it from moisture, UV damage and everyday wear.

🔨 4. Check for Damage
Keep an eye out for loose boards, raised screws, cracks or signs of rot. Catching a small problem early could save you from a much bigger repair later.

🌿 5. Don’t Forget Underneath
Good drainage and airflow are just as important as what you can see on top. Water sitting underneath your decking can eventually cause problems with the structure.

✨ A little TLC throughout the year can make a big difference to how your decking looks and how long it lasts.

🔨 WE’RE LOOKING FOR AN EXTRA PAIR OF HANDS! 🔨

Things are getting busier here at CNB Construction, so I’m looking for a Labourer / Trainee to come on board and work alongside me.

I’ve been working in the trades for 15+ years, and I’m more than happy to share what I’ve learnt with someone who has the right attitude, a good work ethic and genuinely wants to learn.

Experience in the trades would be great, but it’s not essential. For me, finding the right person is more important.

So, what am I looking for? 👇

🔨 Reliable with good timekeeping
🔨 Willing to listen, learn and ask questions
🔨 Not afraid of hard work or getting stuck in
🔨 Friendly and approachable with customers
🔨 Comfortable working at height
🔨 Able to work as part of a team
🔨 And you’ve got to be able to handle a bit of site banter! 😂

📍 You’ll need to be local to Yeadon or have reliable transport to get to jobs in and around the local area.

This could be a brilliant opportunity for someone looking to get into the trades, gain hands-on experience and learn practical skills from someone who’s been doing it for over 15 years.

💷 Rate of pay to be discussed and dependent on experience.

We’re not looking for someone who already knows it all. We’re looking for someone who turns up, puts the effort in and wants to learn. The rest can be taught. 💪

Sound like you?

📩 Drop us a message and tell us a little bit about yourself, any experience you have and why you’d like to get into the trades.

And if it’s not for you but you know someone who could be a good fit, please tag them or give this post a share — it might just reach the right person! 👍

Planning a New Kitchen? Plan Smart, Build Once!

A new kitchen is one of the biggest investments you can make in your home, so taking the time to plan it properly can save you time, money and unnecessary stress.

Here are five things we always recommend thinking about before ordering your new kitchen:

📏 1. Measure Accurately
Take accurate measurements of walls, windows, doors, ceiling heights and existing plumbing and electrics. Even small mistakes can cause big headaches later.

🚶 2. Think About How You Use the Space
Consider your daily routine. Where will you prepare food? Is there enough worktop space? Does the layout work for you and your family?

🗄️ 3. Don’t Forget Storage
Extra drawers, corner units and tall cupboards can make a huge difference. Good storage keeps your kitchen practical as well as looking great.

💡 4. Plan Your Lighting
A combination of ceiling lights, under-cabinet lighting and natural light can completely transform how your kitchen looks and feels.

💷 5. Leave Room in Your Budget
Unexpected costs can crop up during any renovation, so having a contingency fund helps keep your project running smoothly.

A well-planned kitchen isn’t just about looking good—it’s about creating a space that works for you every single day.

If you’re thinking about renovating your kitchen, we’d be happy to offer advice and provide a free, no-obligation quote.

🔨 Trade Tip Tuesdays #2

5 Signs Your Roof Needs Attention Before It Becomes an Expensive Repair

A small roofing issue today could turn into a costly repair tomorrow. Here are five warning signs every homeowner should look out for:

🏠 1. Missing or Damaged Tiles
Strong winds and bad weather can loosen or crack roof tiles, leaving your home vulnerable to leaks.

💧 2. Damp Patches or Water Stains
Noticed damp spots on your ceilings or walls? It could be a sign that water is getting in through your roof.

🌿 3. Moss Build-Up
While a little moss is common, excessive growth can trap moisture and reduce the lifespan of your roof.

🛠️ 4. Sagging Gutters or Fascias
Loose gutters or damaged fascias can stop rainwater draining properly, leading to bigger issues over time.

🌧️ 5. Leaks After Heavy Rain
Even a small drip shouldn’t be ignored. Water damage can quickly become a much larger and more expensive problem.

✅ If you’ve spotted any of these signs, it’s always better to get them checked sooner rather than later.
