I’ve been a bit quiet since my graduation.
To be honest, I didn’t walk away feeling proud. I felt uncertain… even sad. I was told that I “don’t fully understand some parts of creating art yet,” and that stayed with me more than I expected.
But the past few days, I started taking all my work out…really looking at it. Piece by piece. And something shifted.
I saw the amount of work. The persistence. The late nights and early mornings.
I saw everything that existed around that work too, I’m running a business, being a mom, being a grandma, cooking, driving kids to school, showing up for everyone… and still showing up for myself enough to finish art school.
And I realized something important:
Maybe I’m not where they think I should be.
But I am somewhere real. And I got here with everything on my shoulders.
That has to count for something.
So instead of sitting in disappointment, I’m choosing to feel proud. Not because everything is perfect, but because I didn’t quit and I did the work that was asked of me. This video is the proof. This is only half of the 4 years of creating!
I guess that’s what school can do to you sometimes… make you forget what you’ve actually done.
I’m remembering now. And I can’t express how much my fellow colleagues supported me, such enormous support from my art family.
And my real family as well, who had to put up with a wife, mom, and grandma being a student.
I love you all from the bottom of my heart ❤️
