I always say this to people looking for quotes, check first if their work is being carried out by a registered electrician. If not they are not insured.

Always use a Registered Electrical Contractor You should ALWAYS use a Registered Electrical Contractor (REC) to carry out electrical work in your home and ask for a Completion Certificate after the work is complete. We recently got a call to check out some work carried out by a “complete bathroom fit-out company “. The home owner was concerned that it was not carried out by a registered contractor or a competent electrician. After a quick visual inspection we discovered that the lighting cables were burnt and not replaced or repaired correctly. This is one example of the poor work we encounter every day. The home owner had to repair and make safe what they had already paid for in good faith.

Be careful out there, always use a registered contractor, they are trained correctly and insured.

P.s. ducting tape is a conductive material not an insulated material 😉

In our every day job electricians come across a lot of interesting scenarios 😂
But on a serious note things like in the image are really really dangerous. This plug top was on a wet-vac hoover. This is not only dangerous for the hoover but could potentially be life threatening to the user.
Luckily was spotted before any accidents

Called out to a job today cause of a fault with tripping sockets. Took a while but eventually located the fault in the corner of the attic. It is very easy for this kind of fault to occur and if the work was tested properly by a registered electrician more than likely the fault would have been located on completion of the job.
It always pays to get a competent registered contractor to carry out the work be it electrical, plumbing, plastering etc.

This image is something that is very common to electrical contractors in the domestic side of the trade. This is how it was done twenty plus years ago. For the last few years we have been coming across this issue on a regular basis and luckily today this customer smelt burn in time and contacted us. These DZ 3 fuses are no longer in use and a newer safer option is now on the market. We would advise the public to get their distribution board and General Electric’s checked every couple of years. Simple Maintainance can save you thousands in the long run.

Please, when getting any electrical work done ensure that your electrician is a registered SAFE ELECTRIC contractor and fully insured, this is now law for the domestic sector. There is numerous safe electric contractors in Carrigaline and surrounding areas.
