A new house extension footprint left a tight L-shaped space with little room to relax, dine, and entertain in.

The space was dull and shady for most of the day and was going to be viewed out on from an open plan living space.

A large living plant wall made up of a variety of ferns, hellebore, fatsia, herbs, sarcococca, carex grasses planted in masses brings this space alive year round with a client request of white flowers only.

Not only does the living wall create a stunning feature framed in a dark charred hardwood cladding but it has reduced the busy roadway traffic noise pollution, brought birds of all sizes into this space, it illuminates at night, has an automatic irrigation system and needs minimal maintenance.

A large mirror was strategically placed on the opposite wall to mirror the living walls plant foliage along with some pots filled with ferns, hostas, Aubrieta, Jasmin, and Parthenocissus climbers .

An Oak floating bench was installed so you can sit and listening to the water feature and breath in the smell of nature around you.

This courtyard was originally all Stone with malnourished bamboo poorly covering an ugly wall. The space felt cold, gloomy and lifeless.

There was little room for planting, so we took advantage of the long ugly wall and installed our Living Plant Wall system.

Our sister company .ie installed a large water feature, wall cladding, used large specimen Olive trees and plants in custom made to soften the courtyard that is overlooked by the pool house.
