Because there was an existing back boiler that was working perfectly in the fireplace we decided to go with a fire door and frame as opposed to a stove with a back boiler which would have been more expensive to buy and require a lot more work in fitting.We looked at a few options and decided on a "Doras" firefront from Boru stoves which we got in Boyles Tralee.Fitting was pretty Straightforward,and finally finished off with new 6"red deal skirting cut into the hearth and door frame .Could not take a fully finished photo as we are waiting for plaster to dry out fully before painting.The main advantage of the "doras " forefront is that it will greatly increase the efficiency of the back boiler to heat the radiators and hot water while at the same time reduce the amount of fuel burned compared to the previously open fire .

This is what greeted me this week when friends of mine decided to change the look of an old stone clad fireplace that was beginning to show its age .They removed the existing stone and hearth and gave me a call to view the results .

The first thing we had to decide was the style we were going for which turned out to be a clean ,modern look .The removal of the existing stone cladding gave us an extra 7" in depth plus the installation of a smaller hearth 12"x36" gave us more walking room around the fireplace .The first job was to fill in the area occupied by the old hearth with laminate flooring , made easier by the fact that we found an original box left over in the attic .Next up we got a lovely slimline hearth from o sullivans fireplaces in Tralee that worked perfectly with our space .We set the hearth on a dry sand and cement mix ,flooring running approx 1" under all round ,and plastered into the fire ope to finish off .

Have you a large conservatory that is hard to heat, just installed this free standing stovax stove and internal chimney for maxium heat output to the room. This method is quick and causes minimum disruption to the decor and the room layout.

This is a complete bathroom refit, removed the old bath, repositioned toilet and handbasin, added new 1.5m wide walk in shower tray, with Triton T90Z electric shower and glass panel and new tiling.
