Ghlac Club Sub Aqua Átha Luain páirt lárnach sa chuardach do snámhaí a bhí ar iarraidh i nGaillimh ón 12 Samhain. Thaisteal baill an Chlub go Gaillimh ar bhonn laethúil chun cabhrú leis na hiarrachtaí cuardaigh. Ar an bhfaraor, thángthas ar chorp san uisce gar do Thráth na gCeann tráthnóna inniu.
Is mian le Club Sub Aqua Átha Luain chomhbhrón ó chroí a ghlacadh le muintir agus le cairde na mná a cailleadh. Go ndéana Dia grásta uirthi 🙏

Athlone Sub Aqua Club has been actively involved in the search for a missing swimmer in Galway since November 12th. Club members travelled to Galway on a daily basis to assist in the search efforts. Regrettably, a body was recovered from the water near Silverstrand beach this afternoon.
Athlone Sub Aqua Club would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased - RIP 🙏

Lough Ree Lifeboat assists in a multi agency rescue of three vessels in distress on Lough Ree.

Today (July 31st), Lough Ree Lifeboat, along with the Athlone Sub Aqua Club, were tasked by the Irish Coast Guard to assist with three vessels aground at the Black Islands, with 26 people onboard.

At 1920hrs, the Lough Ree Lifeboat 'Tara Scougall' launched from its base at Coosan Point with Stewart McMickan, Liam Sherringham, Patrick Walsh and Emmet Devereux onboard. Within 10 minutes, the lifeboat was on scene and found three cruisers hard aground on a shoal north of the Black Islands. After assessing that all 26 persons onboard were present, safe, and wearing lifejackets, the lifeboat set about refloating the three vessels.

A lifeboat crew member went onboard each casualty vessel to determine if there was any damage or water ingress. Once established that all was well, the three vessels were successfully refloated and carried on their way. Lough Ree Lifeboat and the Athlone Sub Aqua Club left the scene shortly afterwards and returned to their respective bases.

Speaking after the rescue, Deputy Launching Authority Pat Coffey said: "If you see anyone in distress or requiring assistance on the water, do not hesitate in calling 999 or 112 and asking for the Coast Guard".
