Want to know what young people think about living, working and studying in Northern Ireland? Then read our second report 'Youth Voices' with Pivotal! We surveyed young people about their views on their community, school, jobs and future. We found that:

AREAS TO IMPROVE: Young people identified five key areas to be improved in Northern Ireland including -
1) Better Transport
2) Desegregated communities
3)Reduce the impact of drugs
4) Building a sense of belonging
5) Politicians who represent young people's views

FUTURE: Just over half (54.7%) of young people saw a good future for themselves in Northern Ireland

REPRESENTATION: Only 10.5% of young people felt that NI politicians do a good job of representing issues that matter to them.

Check out Pivotal's new report exploring the twin challenges of reconciliation and deprivation in Northern Ireland. The report highlights that:

- the areas most impacted by the Troubles continue to experience multiple adversities such as poverty, poor mental health and low educational attainment

- major social barriers such as segregated housing and education actively keep people divided which reduces cross-community interaction and reconciliation.

The report’s main conclusion is that ongoing deprivation and a lack of societal integration have contributed significantly to an absence of reconciliation. This report is the first of three which Stats & Stories has been working on with Pivotal to explore how Northern Ireland can be a better place for young people to live, work and study.
