HG Construction was proud to deliver this residential development in Deerpark, Cork City, on behalf of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

The project comprised the construction of eight one-bedroom, timber-frame semi-detached homes, specifically designed to provide high-quality accommodation for elderly residents. From initial site development works through to final finishes, landscaping, and external amenity areas, every aspect of the project was delivered with a focus on quality, comfort, and long-term sustainability.

Projects such as this highlight the importance of creating safe, accessible, and dignified living environments that support independent living while strengthening local communities.

A fantastic project to have been involved in and one that will provide lasting benefits for its residents for years to come.

The new 439m² facility provides modern educational spaces while the surrounding external environment has been carefully designed to create a welcoming and accessible setting for students, staff, and visitors. Extensive landscaping, high-quality paving, and thoughtfully planned public realm works combine to enhance the overall school campus and provide durable, attractive outdoor spaces for years to come.

We are pleased to commence upgrade and refurbishment works this week at Mallow Courthouse on behalf of the Office of Public Works (OPW).

This substantial project will involve extensive improvement works throughout the historic courthouse building, including roof repairs, stone re-pointing, window replacement, insulation upgrades, universal access improvements, mechanical and electrical upgrades, and the refurbishment of internal public reception and office areas. The works will also include associated internal alterations and redecoration throughout.

Given the historical significance of Mallow Courthouse, a strong focus will be placed on preserving and enhancing the building’s heritage character while carefully integrating modern upgrades to improve accessibility, efficiency, and functionality for future use.

HG Construction is proud to be delivering these important conservation and upgrade works in partnership with the OPW, contributing to the protection and long-term future of this landmark building.

Works are expected to be completed within a 12-month programme.

Recently, Ronnie Hennessy had the privilege of visiting Skibbereen Community School on behalf of HG Construction.

This visit was particularly meaningful as it marked the presentation of the inaugural Dovydas Palkis Award, established in memory of Dovydas, a young man who tragically lost his life in a road traffic accident last summer, just weeks after completing his Leaving Certificate.

Dovydas was a past student of Skibbereen Community School and had worked with HG Construction during a number of summer and Easter holidays. He was a valued member of our extended team, and is fondly remembered by all who knew him. His stepfather, John, remains a full-time member of our workforce today.

As a way of honouring Dovydas’ memory, HG Construction has introduced this annual award, which will recognise the highest achieving Construction Studies student each year.

I was delighted to present the inaugural award to Matthew Benn, a classmate of Dovydas, making the occasion all the more special and fitting.

Also in attendance were Dovydas’ mother Stella, his stepfather John, Principal Anton O’Mahony, construction studies teacher Killian O’ Sullivan and Matthews parents.

The award itself was designed and crafted in our own joinery workshop, and it is intended that this will continue as an annual tradition in recognition of excellence in construction studies.

Dovydas will always be remembered, and it is our hope that this award will keep his name and spirit alive within the school community for years to come.
